Design Engineer

- Manages and coordinates the design and release to production of products, which meet customer needs and reflect current/future strategic manufacturing processes.
- Analyzes and interprets engineering data when new products and components, modifications, and changes affect standard products.
- Confer with manufacturing engineering to provide assistance in methodizing product operations, tooling requirements, feasibility of manufacture or subcontracting, labor and material cost estimates.
- Develops and presents technical information, which aids in strategic planning initiatives.
- Recommends resources required to enhance product performance and/or resolve design/manufacturing issues.
- Plans and develops experimental test programs. Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
- Works with members of production and engineering staff to solve problems associated with design and manufacturing of products.
- Communicates with the other engineering personnel to coordinate the interrelated design and assure project completion
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical
- 0 - 8 years of work experience; knowledge of gear motors, electric motors and drives a plus
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram from and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
- Solid computer skills include MS Office, engineering design software such as Solidworks, MatLab, Ansys, etc
- Predominately office environment with occasional exposure to the production floor and development lab.
- While on the production floor, employee may be subjected to moving mechanical parts and may be required to put on precautionary, protective wear such as safety glasses.
- Some travel required.
