JOB OVERVIEW

The Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering technology projects in accordance with the organization's project management framework and governance standards. The role ensures effective management of project scope, schedule, cost, resources, quality, dependencies, and benefits realization throughout the project lifecycle.


The Project Manager works closely with business stakeholders, technology teams, and the Head of PMO to ensure structured delivery, risk management, and adherence to project governance processes. The role promotes delivery discipline, transparency, and accountability, ensuring adherence to governance processes while supporting both business and regulatory requirements where applicable.


Through strong stakeholder engagement, proactive decision-making, and structured governance, the Project Manager ensures successful project outcomes and sustained value delivery for the organization.


RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

1. Project Planning and Execution

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of assigned technology projects from initiation through deployment, transition to operations, and formal closure.
  • Develop and maintain a detailed project baseline covering scope, schedule, resource requirements, budget, assumptions, dependencies, and constraints in accordance with PMO standards.
  • Establish and manage project governance, cadence, and working arrangements, including steering committee, project team, and stakeholder forums where required.
  • Define resource requirements and coordinate with functional leads to secure appropriate project staffing and capacity.
  • Manage project interdependencies across related initiatives, vendors, systems, and business units.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including developers, testers, business analysts, and infrastructure teams.
  • Ensure business readiness activities are planned and tracked, including training, communications, operating procedure updates, and handover to business-as-usual teams.
  • Ensure timely execution of project activities across all phases of the delivery lifecycle.
  • Coordinate deployment readiness activities, including cutover planning, rollback planning, and production go-live approvals.
  • Support post-deployment validation and hypercare monitoring and ensure formal project closure is completed, including lessons learned, closure report, handover documentation, and transition to support/operations.

2. Project Monitoring and Reporting

  • Track project progress against scope, timeline, budget, resources, dependencies, risks, and quality targets.
  • Maintain visibility of project performance using defined KPIs, delivery metrics, milestone reporting, and project health indicators.
  • Prepare and submit regular project status reports to the Head of PMO and senior stakeholders.
  • Escalate risks, issues, and delays in a timely manner and propose mitigation plans.

  • Monitor and control project baselines and ensure variances are identified, analyzed, and addressed promptly.
  • Provide clear reporting on overall project health, milestone achievement, resource utilization, financial status, key decisions, and dependency impacts.
  • Maintain action logs, decision logs, and meeting outcomes to support traceability and accountability.
  • Track and report project benefits, outcomes, and success measures where applicable.

3. Risk and Issue Management

  • Identify, assess, and manage risks and issues using defined impact and likelihood criteria and ensure ownership is assigned.
  • Maintain a project RAID log (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies).
  • Drive resolution of issues through coordination with technical and business teams.
  • Escalate critical risks to the Head of PMO when required.
  • Identify, assess, and manage risks and issues using defined impact and likelihood criteria and ensure ownership is assigned.
  • Monitor dependency risks, delivery blockers, and resource constraints that may affect project outcomes.
  • Drive timely decision-making on priority risks, scope trade-offs, and remediation actions.
  • Ensure contingency and recovery plans are established for material delivery risks.

4. Governance and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with the organization's Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and PMO governance framework.
  • Ensure all required project artefacts are produced, reviewed, approved, and maintained (e.g., business requirements, project charter, project plan, RAID log, status reports, test plan, UAT sign-off, change requests, deployment approvals, and post-implementation review).
  • Ensure change requests undergo proper review and approval through the appropriate governance forums.
  • Ensure projects pass required stage gates before progressing to the next phase.
  • Ensure adherence to project management standards, policies, audit requirements, information security requirements, and applicable regulatory obligations.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and audit-ready project documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support internal and external audit inquiries relating to assigned projects, where applicable.
  • Ensure vendor deliverables and third-party commitments are governed in line with contractual and organizational requirements where relevant.

5. Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the primary day-to-day coordination point for project stakeholders and delivery teams.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations, obtain key decisions and approvals, and maintain alignment on project objectives, priorities, deliverables, and outcomes.
  • Facilitate project meetings, workshops, and alignment sessions.
  • Ensure clear communication between business teams and technology delivery teams.

  • Build strong working relationships with business sponsors, product owners, delivery teams, control functions, and external partners/vendors where applicable.
  • Facilitate timely resolution of cross-functional conflicts, priority decisions, and stakeholder concerns.
  • Ensure stakeholder communications are tailored, timely, and appropriate for both operational and executive audiences.
  • Support effective executive presentations and governance updates for material projects.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education level: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, Engineering, or related field.

Years of Experience:

  • Minimum 5–8 years of relevant project management experience, preferably in technology, digital, financial services, fintech, or insurance delivery environments.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering complex, cross-functional technology initiatives involving multiple stakeholders and teams.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining delivery discipline, governance compliance, and stakeholder alignment.

Specific skills:

  • Strong understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and technology delivery frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience managing projects across Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery models.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive delivery across requirements definition, development, testing, deployment, and post-implementation review.
  • Experience managing project scope, schedule, risks, dependencies, and resource coordination across technical teams.
  • Familiarity with project management and collaboration tools such as Jira, MS Project, Confluence, or similar platforms.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with strong organizational discipline.

Certifications and Licenses: PMP, PRINCE2, or similar project management certification.
