Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers in the naval shipbuilding and defense industry.
- Identify sales opportunities and grow business with existing and prospective naval shipbuilding customers.
- Capture and interpret detailed material specifications, certification requirements, and documentation needs for customer inquiries.
- Prepare timely and technically accurate quotations that meet NAVSEA, MIL-DTL, ASTM, ASME, ABS, and related standards.
- Support major naval program bids by collaborating with Outside Sales and leadership on pricing, availability, and compliance requirements.
- Communicate mill lead times, material availability, and technical requirements to customers and internal teams.
- Work closely with Customer Service and Operations to ensure orders are executed accurately and in alignment with customer production schedules.
- Monitor project timelines and support expediting efforts for critical shipbuilding programs when necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, quotations, technical requirements, and project updates in the CRM system.
- Provide management with competitive intelligence and market insights related to naval programs and shipbuilding activity.
- Support the Company’s Quality System, including compliance with Level I, SUBSAFE, DMR, and other controlled material requirements where applicable.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in Inside Sales, Technical Sales, or industrial sales support.
- Experience in metals distribution or supply within the naval, defense, or shipbuilding industry strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret technical material specifications, certifications, and engineering documentation.
- Strong sales, communication, negotiation, and customer relationship skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience with CRM and ERP systems preferred.
