Responsibilities: The engineer hired for this position will be expected to:
- Coordinate supplier MPD design and redesign efforts (Hardware and Software)
- Verify control system design compliance with specifications and system requirements
- Support testing and troubleshooting for MPDs at the Electric Boat shipyard in Groton, CT, the IPS CTF, and supplier facility
- Support lifecycle management activities including maintenance oversight
- Interface with technical and management personnel at NAVSEA, NNL, NSWC, and vendors
- Interface with Operations and Trades at Electric Boat manufacturing facilities
- Enforce technical requirements on vendors
- BS or MS mechanical engineering degree with technical background (Mechanical, Systems, Marine Mechatronics, etc.)
- 0 - 3 years of relevant post-graduate engineering experience
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
- Ability to occasionally travel to remote facilities within the United States (Philadelphia, PA; Milwaukee, WI; Washington, D.C., etc.)
- Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience working with government customers
- Ability to understand macro level objectives and priorities while driving detailed level actions
- Multi-disciplinary systems engineering experience in complex systems based products
- Experience with Military Standards
- Experience in control systems, variable speed motor drives, fluid systems engineering, or thermal analysis
- Experience using MATLAB and/or Simulink
- Experience with model based systems engineering
- Experience using Microsoft products
- Effective communicator
