.NET Backend Engineer (Azure, Microservices),

100% Remote (CST)

6-12 Month Contract (Likelihood of extension)

Brooksource is seeking a skilled .NET Developer to join our Fortune 5 healthcare client. This primarily a backend role is focused on building and supporting cloud‑native, distributed systems while integrating with legacy applications.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, test, and support backend services using C# / .NET
• Work across legacy (.NET Framework) and modern (.NET Core / .NET 8) codebases
• Build and consume RESTful APIs
• Collaborate with teams & stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
• Participate in and lead code reviews; mentor junior and mid‑level engineers
• Build, deploy, monitor, and support production services
• Work within an Agile/Scrum environment across multiple initiatives

Required Skills:

• Enterprise-level software development experience, specifically in a .NET environment
• Experience with both modern .NET Core (.NET 8) + older .NET Framework (4.6/4.7)
• Experience with microservices‑based architectures
• Strong Kubernetes/containerization experience, such as:
• Writing code in containerized environments
• Deploying applications using containers
• Troubleshooting applications in Kubernetes
• Kubernetes fundamentals (deployments, services, ingress concepts)
• Experience with Azure cloud
• Kafka or event‑driven messaging
• Angular or React for front-end development
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps a plus)
• SQL experience (MS SQL, PostgreSQL, or similar)

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Computer Engineering or related field OR 4 years’ relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
• Experience leveraging AI tools in the SDLC
• Encryption, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), understanding of OWASP
• Mentorship or technical leadership experience
• Exposure to GitOps or large‑scale Agile (LeSS)
• Healthcare domain experience
