Location: Floral Importer distributor from Miami, Florida with Nationwide reach Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Sales Representative specializing in perishable products who would consider exploring sales of floral products, with a proven track record of success selling to major retail chains and supermarket accounts. What You'll Do
• Drive sales growth by managing and expanding relationships with major supermarket chains and large retail accounts
• Develop and execute strategic sales plans for perishable product categories
• Negotiate contracts, pricing, and promotional programs with retail buyers and category managers
• Coordinate with logistics and distribution teams to ensure seamless delivery and compliance with cold chain requirements
• Monitor performance metrics including velocity, turns, spoilage rates, and margin contribution
• Manage EDI transactions and ensure accurate data exchange with retail partners
• Collaborate with merchandising teams on planogram optimization and shelf placement strategies
• Analyze sell-through data, inventory levels, and promotional effectiveness
Required Qualifications Experience & Expertise
• Minimum 5 years of sales experience specifically in perishable products (floral-plants product or fresh produce)
• Proven track record selling to large retail chains and supermarket accounts (examples: Kroger, Albertsons, Publix, Whole Foods, regional chains, etc.)
• Established network of buyer relationships and industry contacts within major retailers
• Deep understanding of distribution center operations, receiving procedures, and perishable handling protocols
Technical Skills
• Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros, data analysis, forecasting models)
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 suite (Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint)
• EDI platform experience required (810, 850, 856, 860 transaction sets; experience with SPS Commerce, TrueCommerce, or similar platforms)
• Proficiency with retail portals and vendor scorecards (OTIF, fill rates, etc.)
Industry Knowledge
• Expert understanding of cold chain logistics and temperature-controlled supply chain requirements
• Fluency in retail KPIs and industry terminology:
o Sales metrics: Velocity, TPRs (temporary price reductions), lift, baseline vs. incremental
o Supply chain: OTIF (On-Time In-Full), lead times, case fill rates, DC compliance
o Inventory management: Days on hand, turns, shrink, spoilage allowances
o Product performance: SKU rationalization, category management, DSD vs. warehouse delivery
• Understanding of slotting fees, promotional allowances, and trade spend management

• The ability to problem-solve distribution challenges and DC compliance issues in real-time
• Experience managing seasonal fluctuations and demand volatility in perishables
• Strong presentation skills and the ability to conduct line reviews and category presentations
• A track record of exceeding sales targets while maintaining healthy margins
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Food Science, or related field
• Experience with category management and space planning tools (Apollo, JDA, etc.)
• Knowledge of retail consolidation trends and experience working with GPOs (Group Purchasing Organizations)
• Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) a plus
• Experience with syndicated data (IRI, Nielsen) and consumer insights
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to retail accounts and distribution centers (up to 40%)
