Software Engineer

The Role

• Develop concepts for a university bibliography, publication server, and research data repository using DSpace as the base technology.
• Design and implement workflows for submissions, harvesting of publications, and post-processing.
• Design and implement role definitions and access control mechanisms.
• Design and implement various views and statistics on publications.
• Connect the system to various data providers and consumers via standard interfaces (e.g., OAI, SWORD, OpenAIRE, OpenAlex, CrossRef).
• Develop operational and maintenance concepts, and migrate existing data into new systems.

What You'll Need

• Completed university degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Library Informatics, Digital Humanities, or equivalent.
• Several years of practical experience in IT, with in-depth computer science knowledge.
• Multiple years of experience in developing and deploying web applications.
• Excellent knowledge of Java or Python, good knowledge of the other language.
• Excellent knowledge of JavaScript and HTML, and solid Linux skills.
• Good experience with search technologies (e.g., Apache Solr, VUFind) and basic knowledge of relational databases.
