Director, IT Operations and Security

MUST:

• At least 10 years of total IT experience in infrastructure, networking, and security engineering
• Has been in director level role and for at least 2 years
• Experience in a law firm or other professional services environment is preferred
• Has driven the strategy and roadmap for their team
• Has owned the budget for their team
• Very strong knowledge of security engineering- enterprise-level security practices, including security frameworks such as ISO 27001/27701, NIST, or SOC 2.
• Experience leading companywide strategy around network architecture, infrastructure, know enough to challenge managers on their recommendations, not just rely on their managers
• Very strong with security engineering
• Expert with networking, infrastructure, and security engineering
• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team to achieve goals and objectives.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices related to IT operations and security
• Experience with incident response and threat detection, including the ability to develop and execute security incident response plans..

PLUS:

• Law firm IT experience
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, A master's degree is even more highly preferred
• CISSP, CISM, or CISA, are preferred.

DAY TO DAY:

As a Director of Infrastructure & Security, you’ll set the strategy and roadmap for enterprise network architecture, infrastructure, and security across a national law firm. You’ll lead through leaders—overseeing 6 managers and a team of ~30 professionals—while driving accountability, alignment, and execution across all infrastructure functions. You’ll partner closely with your managers to evaluate recommendations, challenge technical direction when needed, and ensure all proposed solutions align with long-term architecture, security, and scalability goals. Your focus will be on setting strategy—not managing day-to-day operations—especially across networking, infrastructure design, and security engineering.

This Director will provide expert-level guidance on enterprise security posture, infrastructure modernization, and network architecture, ensuring best practices are consistently applied in a complex, high-availability environment. While you’ll have visibility into end-user computing, service desk, and document services, your primary emphasis will be on enterprise infrastructure, security engineering, and strategic direction. Lastly, in this role, you’ll work cross-functionally with IT leadership to shape how systems are built, secured, and evolved—balancing innovation, risk, and reliability in a mission-critical legal environment.
