As senior decision scientist for Partner (Employee) Analytics within the broader Partner Resources organization, you will be responsible for conducting complex analyses to deliver critical insights that guide strategic decisions across the partner domain, to include talent acquisition, talent management, compensation, benefits, inclusion & diversity, and operational excellence. We are looking for an individual with strong analytical acumen and a consulting mindset to serve as a trusted thought partner for teams across the Starbucks Support Center. The successful candidate for this role will thrive in a highly cross-functional working environment, possess strong analysis and insights generation capabilities, be comfortable presenting to senior leaders, and have the intellectual curiosity to dive deep into complex problems.
As a senior decision scientist, you will...
- Lead data manipulation and analysis – You will consult with business teams to identify appropriate methodologies to analyze complex business problems, extract large-scale data sets from a variety of systems, and perform analysis with high quality and statistical rigor.
- Craft compelling narratives backed by data – You will synthesize analytical findings into actionable recommendations, producing relevant visualizations and narratives. You will have strong executive presence and present to and discuss insights with business stakeholders, up to and including senior leadership.
- Develop frameworks and methodologies for new analytical challenges – You will identify opportunities to innovate in methodologies and process, approaching new data capabilities and business problems with curiosity.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher with quantitative emphasis: Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Psychology, or related field; Masters preferred.
- 2 or more years related experience applying analytics to complex business questions.
- Proficiency in Excel, SQL, Tableau / PowerBI and Python, R or other advanced analytics scripting language or experimental design platforms.
- Experience with cloud tech for data and analytic solutions (Azure, AWS).
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation and storytelling skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple time-sensitive projects and competing priorities with minimal guidance and high attention to detail
- If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.
