Semi Retired Engineer

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Semi-Retired Engineer, based in Cambridge, Ontario. The role involves applying engineering expertise to troubleshoot, diagnose, and solve complex issues in commercial and industrial building systems, including HVAC and Building Automation Systems. Responsibilities also include mentoring junior engineers, reviewing designs, supervising retrofits, contributing to energy optimization strategies, and recommending system upgrades. The Semi-Retired Engineer will collaborate closely with clients and cross-functional teams to support projects that improve building performance and sustainability.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for large-scale commercial and industrial systems
• Experience in mentoring and guiding junior engineers, and providing technical oversight
• Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, property managers, and multidisciplinary teams
• Proficiency in system design, retrofit, and optimization planning
• Familiarity with energy efficiency retrofits, decarbonization strategies, and sustainable practices
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or equivalent experience; experience in the HVAC industry preferred
