Role Description

This is a volunteer role for a Board Member at Heartland Arts KC. The Board Member will be responsible for providing governance, strategic direction, and oversight to support the organization’s mission and goals. Day-to-day responsibilities include attending board meetings, contributing to financial oversight, fundraising, and serving as an advocate for the organization in the community. This is an hybrid role based in Kansas City, MO, requiring active engagement with local arts initiatives and events.

Qualifications

• Governance and Leadership Skills: Experience in nonprofit leadership, strategy development, and board governance.
• Finance and Fundraising Expertise: Knowledge of financial oversight, budgeting, and experience with fundraising efforts or donor outreach.
• Community Engagement: Strong connections within the Kansas City community and a commitment to supporting local art and culture initiatives.
• Advocacy and Public Speaking: Effective communication skills to represent the organization and advocate for its mission.
• Team Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Passion for the Arts and Civic Engagement: A strong interest in performing arts, creative leadership, and community service.
• Experience in Policy or Arts Leadership (preferred but not required): Background in policy development or arts-related leadership is beneficial.
