COO - Staging, Event Operations & Logistics

Position Overview

Private equity event services portfolio company

A portfolio company of a private equity firm is seeking an experienced, hands-on Chief Operating Officer ("COO") to lead and scale a rapidly growing national event infrastructure and production services platform. Company specializes in elevated flooring systems, bleacher seating, staging, and large-scale event support services for corporate events, sports, entertainment, government, and live event clients across the United States.

This role is designed for a proven operational leader with deep experience in the event services, staging, seating, production, tent, or specialty rental industries who can professionalize operations, improve execution, implement EOS principles, and help drive the next phase of growth.

The COO will work directly with ownership and senior leadership to oversee daily operations, improve accountability, strengthen systems/processes, increase profitability, and build scalable infrastructure across multiple markets.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee all day-to-day company operations across logistics, labor, warehouse, transportation, project management, field operations, and installation teams.
  • Drive operational excellence and consistency across all PM1 locations and event sites.
  • Develop scalable systems and processes to support continued geographic expansion and increased event volume.
  • Improve fleet utilization, labor efficiency, job costing accuracy, scheduling, and operational profitability.
  • Lead forecasting and capacity planning for peak event seasons and large-scale deployments.
  • Establish KPIs and operational dashboards for leadership review.

EOS Implementation & Accountability

  • Serve as a key leader in implementing and maintaining the Entrepreneurial Operating System ("EOS").
  • Lead Level 10 meetings and ensure accountability across departments.
  • Build and maintain scorecards, rocks, process documentation, and organizational clarity.
  • Help strengthen company structure, communication flow, and leadership accountability.
  • Drive execution against quarterly and annual company objectives.

Team Leadership

  • Build, mentor, and manage high-performing operational teams.
  • Recruit, train, and develop regional managers, project managers, and operational leaders.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, urgency, safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Assist ownership in succession planning and organizational development.

Financial & Strategic Execution

  • Work closely with ownership and finance leadership to improve EBITDA margins and operational cash flow.
  • Identify operational efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, capital planning, and strategic growth initiatives.
  • Support acquisition integration efforts and future expansion opportunities.

Client & Project Oversight

  • Ensure flawless execution for high-profile events and key client relationships.
  • Assist in managing large-scale projects from planning through execution and teardown.
  • Support business development efforts through operational credibility and client confidence.

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • 7+ years of senior leadership experience in:
  • Event services
  • Production services
  • Staging
  • Seating/bleacher rental
  • Tent/event rental
  • Live events
  • Specialty infrastructure services
  • Proven experience managing multi-location operational teams.
  • Strong background implementing or operating within EOS.
  • Demonstrated ability to scale operations in a fast-paced, logistics-heavy environment.
  • Experience managing field labor, trucking/logistics, warehousing, and project execution teams.
  • Strong financial and operational acumen with understanding of EBITDA drivers and job costing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in private equity-backed or rapidly scaling companies.
  • Experience integrating acquisitions or expanding into new geographic markets.
  • Familiarity with large-scale sporting events, festivals, concerts, corporate events, and government contracts.
  • Lean operations or process improvement background is a plus.
