Position Summary

The Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU) seeks an early-career Fellow to support the growth of BCIU Ventures. Communications and writing are the primary focus of this role — the Fellow will build and manage the day-to-day communications infrastructure of BCIU Ventures, from internal leadership updates to the external deck, proposals, and thought leadership content. The Fellow will also provide research, operations, and administrative support across high-level domestic and international initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Communications & Writing

Communications and writing are the primary functions of this role. The Fellow will build and manage the communications infrastructure of BCIU Ventures — across internal stakeholders, external audiences, and client-facing materials — working in close coordination with unit leadership.

Internal Communications

  • Build and maintain the internal communications rhythm of BCIU Ventures — from briefings and inter-unit updates to meeting preparation and event collateral — ensuring the right people are informed, materials are current, and every touchpoint reflects the quality and standards of the unit

External Communications

  • Manage the external-facing communications library of BCIU Ventures, including the deck, one pager, case studies, and website content, keeping materials current as the unit evolves — and support day-to-day external writing across proposals, briefings, social media, and thought leadership in close coordination with unit leadership

Client Journey Document

  • Develop and maintain the BV Client Journey — a storytelling document that captures the full arc of how BCIU Ventures works with clients, from onboarding and stakeholder mapping through enterprise introductions, international market delegations, and BCIU programming. Intended for use during or just before client onboarding and written to evolve through process iteration, this is a living asset used with prospects and new clients

Operations

  • Support planning and execution of programs, roundtables, business delegations, and client engagements
  • Coordinate logistics before, during, and after high-level domestic and international events, contributing to post-program follow-up, documentation, and outcome tracking
  • Support outreach to senior government officials and global business leaders
  • Assist in preparing budgets and tracking project milestones and deliverables

Research & Insights

  • Conduct sector, market, and stakeholder research across global regions
  • Track sovereign priorities, monitor firms, political developments, conferences, and emerging themes across target markets
  • Support pipeline development through research, opportunity tracking, and maintaining segmented outreach lists
  • Produce briefing notes, topical memos, and event summaries — both through independent research and by attending key meetings and engagements

Administration & Team Support

  • Maintain organized systems for files and CRM records
  • Track inquiries, RSVPs, and stakeholder engagement activity
  • Edit documents and materials for clarity, accuracy, and completeness

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Interest in international relations, global affairs, private equity, venture capital, emerging technologies, or related fields (professional experience is a plus)
  • Exceptional written communication skills — able to write clearly and compellingly across formats including executive updates, external decks, proposals, briefings, thought leadership, and professional correspondence
  • A self-starter with initiative — fast learner, comfortable with new technologies and tools, creative and proactive, brings ideas and solutions without waiting to be directed
  • Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage large volumes of information
  • Strong research abilities (web, databases, global intelligence sources)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required; familiarity with CRM and project management tools such as Zoho and Monday.com is a plus, as is comfort learning new platforms like Pitchbook
  • High professionalism and discretion
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Compensation and Benefits

Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Compensation: $2,700 bi-weekly (commensurate with experience) for a 12-month fellowship, with potential for renewal or advancement.
