Position Summary
The Team Head is a senior corporate banker responsible for driving new business origination while supporting the Business Head in supervising the Large Corporates Team as deputy. This hybrid role combines a strong hunter focus on New to Bank acquisitions for large corporates with hands-on team leadership and credit oversight.
Responsibilities
- Achieve the allocated KPIs by driving New-to-Bank (NTB) acquisitions and growth in outstanding loan assets, derivative products and cash deposits. Optimize growth in gross interest income and fee-based income.
- Assist Business Head in supervising and coaching relationship managers to ensure the smooth running of the unit.
- Assist Business Head in leading Large Corporates to achieve the allocated KPIs in terms of loans outstanding, gross interest income, fee-based income and NPL ratio.
- Drive strategic business development across diversified industry sectors including large corporates, blue-chip companies, government-linked corporations (GLCs), SGX/regional exchange-listed entities, and listed/non-listed conglomerates with multi-industry and geographic interests while leading sustainable finance initiatives for large-scale corporates undergoing energy transition or seeking green and sustainability-linked financing.
- Collaborate with major corporate banks to structure and execute syndicated loans or club lending arrangements for corporate clients, and work closely with overseas branches and/or Head Office to facilitate cross-border referrals and capture regional capital flows.
- Cultivate strong relationships with corporate clients by delivering bespoke financial solutions that enhance retention and maximize wallet-share.
- Structure and submit comprehensive credit proposals for new-to-bank acquisitions.
- Review the credit proposals submitted by Relationship Managers, ensuring appropriate structure and optimal facility sizing.
- Ensure timely execution of annual credit reviews and facility renewals by Relationship Manager.
- Maintain stringent oversight of deteriorating credits and NPL accounts, ensuring accurate impairment provisioning and recovery strategies.
- Drive ancillary revenue through active cross-selling of the bank’s suite of products, including Trade Finance, Treasury, and Cash Management solutions.
- Ensure compliance with MAS regulations, HKMA regulations, internal BEA Group policies, anti-money laundering and anti-terrorism financing, and reporting of suspicious transactions to Senior Management.
Requirements
- Hold a university degree in Accountancy, Business, Economics, or related disciplines.
- Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in Banking, with minimum 10 years’ experience in a similar capacity or position.
- Proven leadership experience in managing Relationship Managers and leading corporate banking teams.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills; able to engage clients and internal stakeholders confidently.
