Product Development Manager

This is Not an IT position. Role requires Monday - Thursday in office. Must have Hard Home PD experience to be considered.
The PD Manager actively participates in the management of product development through all stages of product lifecycle (concept to market) while maintaining price, quality, and delivery standards. Work closely with overseas factories and internal design, merchandising teams to build new product lines for major retailers. Ability to develop and source products made of wood, plastic, metal, glass, ceramic and other materials.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and source in Asia physical products for the home that are made of wood, metal, ceramic, glass, plastic and other materials.
- Work directly with international vendors on new product development and sourcing
- Partner with the internal sales team to create new programs and maintain product offerings
- Analyze new product viability in terms of sales and profit goals.
- Work directly with major key accounts on fast turnaround with samples in two weeks.
- Source factories in Asia
- Manage the product life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities and maintenance in coordination with the internal inventory management team
- Develops the trend guides for Design
Requirements:
- 6+ years relevant work experience in product development in one or a combination of the following categories: hard home goods (defined as products made from metal, plastic, wood, glass, ceramic or other non-textile materials), accessories, gifts, crafts, or DIY jewelry
- Must possess a strong fashion sense and have the ability to interpret trends into product for mass market
- Experience in sourcing factories is a must have
- Must have the skill to understand Trend and where a category is headed
- Demonstrated innovation and the ability to develop and execute against product initiatives
- Strong analytical capabilities to evaluate and articulate opportunities and challenges
- Experience working with big-box retailers is a plus
- Direct experience with vendor based new product commercialization
- Effective prioritization, implementation and monitoring of category plans and initiatives
- Strong communication skills to articulate a point of view and set direction
- Passionate, entrepreneurial & creative spirit with a strong sense of urgency, achievement and problem-solving aptitude.
- Sense of urgency in all things and excellent follow up skills.
