Core Responsibilities
- Create engaging and intuitive user interfaces for websites, web applications, and mobile platforms using tools such as Figma or Adobe XD.
- Develop low-fidelity wireframes and high-fidelity prototypes for usability testing and stakeholder presentations.
- Conduct user research and usability testing to identify user pain points and gather feedback to inform design decisions.
- Maintain and expand upon existing design systems, ensuring consistency across all touchpoints and alignment with brand guidelines (e.g., USWDS for government projects).
- Work closely with developers, product managers, and stakeholders to translate requirements into user-friendly designs.
- Continuously refine designs based on user feedback, analytics, and emerging industry trends.
- Design with accessibility in mind, adhering to WCAG 2.1 and Section 508 standards.
- Ensure cohesive branding through the effective use of typography, color theory, iconography, and visual hierarchy.
- Actively participate in agile scrum teams, contributing to backlog refinement, sprint planning, and design reviews.
- 4–6 years of professional experience in UI/UX design, preferably working on responsive web applications or government-focused projects.
- Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator).
- Strong understanding of user-centered design principles, including usability, accessibility, and responsive design.
- Experience in creating and maintaining design systems and component libraries.
- Working knowledge of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to effectively communicate with developers (coding skills not required).
- Demonstrated ability to conduct user research, synthesize data, and apply findings to improve design outcomes.
- Familiarity with WCAG, Section 508, and best practices in web accessibility.
- Experience with interactive prototyping tools (e.g., Figma or Axure).
- A portfolio showcasing responsive design, interactive prototypes, and user flows.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to present design concepts to stakeholders and clients effectively.
- Self-motivated with a desire to stay up-to-date on UI/UX trends and advancements.
- Bonus: Experience with government websites and design standards like USWDS
