Company Description

Soundromeda Studios is a US-based game studio on a mission to redefine how we interact with music. Our flagship title, Soundromeda, is a story-driven, cosmic action-adventure where players master the fusion of music and light to battle an ancient darkness. We are crafting a unique experience that blends soulslike combat, RPG depth, and looter progression with deep musical integration. Beyond our core game, we are building an innovative platform where real music artists can drop UGC worlds, creating a "Renaissance of music" through interactive play. soundromeda.com

Role Description

As a bootstrapped indie studio, we need a "Force Multiplier": a Generalist who can bridge the gap between complex C++ systems, blueprints, and immersive audio. You'll be a core member of our game team to help us build out our game along with the modular frameworks that allow Soundromeda to scale. This is a remote, project-based role that sits at the intersection of gameplay logic, technical art, and music.

Note on Compensation: This is a pre-seed position. It is unpaid until our SEED round funding is completed (currently in process), at which point equity, competitive salary and incentives will be part of the formal offer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Modular Systems: Build data-driven gameplay frameworks (Combat, Inventory, Player Movement) using C++ and Blueprints.
  • Technical Audio: Own the implementation of reactive music and SFX systems using MetaSounds and/or audio middleware.
  • Pipeline Optimization: Establish clean project architecture (Interfaces, Data Assets) to ensure the game is scalable for future UGC integration.
  • Cross-Discipline Support: Assist with UI/UX implementation, basic Niagara VFX, and platform-specific optimization (PC/Console/Mobile).

Required Qualifications

  • UE5 Mastery: Expert knowledge of Unreal Engine 5.7+, BPs, Animation systems, C++ (bonus for Verse experience, but not vital).
  • Programming: Strong proficiency in C++, OOP/Procedural principles, and Blueprint communication patterns (Interfaces/Components).
  • Audio Fluency: Deep understanding of MetaSounds, MIDI, and how to sync game events to musical beat-clocks.
  • Indie Spirit: A problem-solver and self-motivated mindset: you know how to build lean, performant systems in a remote, Agile environment.

The "Soundromeda" Edge (Music & Audio Flair)

Applicants must specify their proficiency in:

  • Music Theory & Production: Understanding of harmonic structures and DAW workflows (Ableton/FL/Logic).
  • Technical Sound Design: Creating procedural SFX that react dynamically to player data.

Additional Experience Points

  • Experience with Web3/Blockchain (Solidity, Rust) or LiveOps (EOS, Edgegap).
  • Experience with AI tools (specify which ones)
  • Experience in Soulslike, Action, or Looter-Shooter mechanics.
  • Experience with Unreal's GAS (Gameplay Ability System)

How to Apply

Please submit your Game portfolio and a note on your experience with Music/Audio.
