Hard Money Loan Underwriter (US Mortgage)

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Hard Money Loan Underwriter to evaluate loan applications and assess borrower creditworthiness for fix-and-flip and investment property financing. This role requires a strong understanding of underwriting guidelines, risk assessment, and the ability to work closely with loan officers, borrowers, and other stakeholders to ensure efficient loan processing.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough analysis of loan applications, including borrower financials, credit reports, and property evaluations.
• Assess borrower eligibility and repayment ability based on established underwriting guidelines.
• Work closely with loan officers, processors, brokers, and appraisers to collect and verify necessary documentation.
• Communicate with borrowers to provide updates, address document requirements, and explain loan terms.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and industry regulations while maintaining high underwriting standards.
• Identify potential risks and provide recommendations for loan approval, modification, or decline.
• Maintain accurate and organized records of loan files and underwriting decisions.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Experience in hard money or real estate investment lending.
• Strong knowledge of loan underwriting, credit analysis, and risk assessment.
• Proficiency in reviewing financial statements, property appraisals, and borrower documentation.
• Ability to collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with loan processing systems and regulatory compliance.
