About the Foundation
Created in 1985, the Oxnard College Foundation supports Oxnard College by providing funds for student scholarships, programs, endowments, and college initiatives. The Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors composed of local business and civic leaders, and operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. About the Position Under the direction of the Board of Directors, the Executive Director serves the Oxnard College Foundation and provides strategic leadership, resource development, community engagement, and administrative oversight. The Executive Director is responsible for advancing the Foundation’s mission, ensuring alignment with its strategic plan, and sustaining long-term organizational growth and impact.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership ● Lead the coordination and evaluation of the Foundation’s strategic plan, ensuring alignment with Board priorities and the College mission; ● Monitor progress on strategic initiatives and integrate goals into daily operations and long-term planning; ● Plan and facilitate the annual Board of Directors retreat, including agenda development, coordination, and follow-up on strategic action items; ● Advise and support the Board of Directors through regular reporting, policy development, and strategic recommendations. Resource Development ● Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising program, including major gifts, corporate sponsorships, grants, and donor engagement strategies; ● Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, alumni, community partners, and stakeholders; ● Lead fundraising campaigns, events, and initiatives that expand the Foundation’s financial resources and community impact; 1 Administrative & Operational Management ● Oversee all day-to-day operations of the Foundation, including financial management, budgeting, compliance, and reporting; ● Ensure proper management of endowments and adherence to donor restrictions and legal requirements; ● Recruit, supervise, and evaluate staff ● Oversee the successful operation of the Oxnard College Marketplace, including vendor engagement, revenue performance, and operational efficiency; ● Maintain all Foundation records and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and district policies; ● Prepare and present financial and operational reports to the Board of Directors. ● Monitor scholarship impact and outcomes, providing regular reports to the Board of Directors and stakeholders; ● Cultivate and steward relationships with scholarship donors, including recognition, reporting, and opportunities for continued engagement and giving. Community & Public Relations ● Represent the Foundation at public events, donor functions, and community activities, serve as the primary spokesperson and ambassador for the Foundation; ● Strengthen community awareness, trust, and engagement through strategic marketing, outreach, and partnerships; ● Build and maintain strong relationships with college leadership, local businesses, government agencies, and community organizations. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required; Master’s degree preferred in nonprofit management, public administration, business administration, higher education, or a related field; Proficiency in Microsoft Office, budgeting software, and CRM/fundraising platforms (e.g., DonorPerfect, Bloomerang, or similar); Proven success in nonprofit leadership, with experience reporting to or working closely with a Board of Directors and experience with the Brown Act. 2 Knowledge, Skills & Abilities ● Demonstrated experience in developing and managing budgets, financial forecasting, and producing financial reports. ● Skilled in leading and mentoring staff and volunteers, including recruitment and performance management. ● Background in event planning and execution, particularly fundraising events or community programs. ● Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a dynamic, mission-driven environment. ● Experience working with and serving diverse populations and community stakeholders. ● Strong strategic planning and organizational skills, with the ability to translate vision into action. ● Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including grant writing, public speaking, and donor correspondence. ● Marketing and branding awareness, especially in nonprofit storytelling and community outreach. ● Solid understanding of fundraising best practices, donor databases/CRMs, and grant application processes. ● Collaborative leadership style with a high degree of emotional intelligence and diplomacy. ● High level of integrity, discretion, and ethical decision-making, especially when managing donor intent and Foundation funds.
Compensation Salary Range: $100,000 – $130,000 annually, commensurate with experience and education;
Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt; Benefits: Competitive benefits package in accordance with Foundation policies Work Schedule & Expectations This position requires a high level of commitment and flexibility, including working evenings, weekends, and Sundays as needed to support Marketplace operations and community engagement activities. This position will be in person at Oxnard College.
