Supplier Quality Engineer – Automotive Tech

This company, a global leader in safety-critical automotive technology, is looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer for their new, thriving facility. In this position, you’ll develop the supplier base using continuous improvement features, tools, and methodologies to meet quality objectives.

Position Description

The SQE works between suppliers and cross-functional teams to review and verify the suppliers’ capabilities, to make sure they’re in alignment with product design requirements and application intent. You’ll work on formulating quality control policies/procedures and develop quality standards. You’ll also work on resolving product and process issues, solving manufacturing-related problems, review supplier performance, and provide suggestions on improvements.



Other responsibilities include:

  • Own and Lead Supplier 8D’s on all supplier product issues in an urgent and timely manner.
  • Support new product launches to ensure that supplier quality meets the required standards
  • Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective actions of supplier quality issues
  • Work with the supplier directly, create correction action plans to address process failures
  • Lead implementation of all supplier-related containment activities in plant.
  • Ensure supplier process controls meet reliability and capability levels.
  • Validate and approve Supplier PPAP’s in a timely manner.
  • Manage yearly PPAP’s for carryover product and maintain PPAP records.
  • Coordinate required incoming inspections.




Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 3+ years of experience in supplier quality practices, principles, and processes for high-volume manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of regulated electronics production (PCB assembly and fabrication).
  • Demonstrate knowledge of FMEA’s, APQP, PPAP, Continuous Improvement (Kaizen).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage several large and complex projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in a dynamic and fast-paced manufacturing environment, with the ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work with team members at all levels of the organization.
  • Travel up to 10-20%.



Compensation:

$85,000-110,000/year base salary with bonus.



This is a direct-hire position, with a full benefit package.
