Accounting Manager | Manufacturing

A growing manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead day-to-day accounting operations and oversee critical financial functions including payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and month-end close activities.

This is a highly visible leadership role that combines hands-on accounting responsibilities with team management, compliance oversight, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead daily accounting operations, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and General Ledger
• Manage customer invoicing, collections, and accurate application of cash receipts
• Oversee accounts payable processing, including annual 1099 preparation and reporting
• Review and approve payroll to ensure compliance and accuracy of wages, deductions, and benefits
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
• Prepare and post journal entries and reconcile key balance sheet accounts during month-end close
• Support annual financial audits and benefits-related reporting
• Upload and manage banking files in coordination with financial institutions
• Review corporate credit card activity and prepare related journal entries
• Administer COBRA-related events and benefits audits
• Manage office administration and purchasing activities, including raw material surcharge calculations
• Supervise payroll staff, including hiring, training, performance management, and employee development

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including payroll oversight
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close
• Experience with audits, bank reconciliations, and 1099 reporting
• Proficiency with accounting and payroll systems
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Preferred Experience

• Background in manufacturing, industrial, or unionized environments
• Experience with purchasing and vendor management
• Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on leadership style
