Accounting Manager | Manufacturing
A growing manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead day-to-day accounting operations and oversee critical financial functions including payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and month-end close activities.
This is a highly visible leadership role that combines hands-on accounting responsibilities with team management, compliance oversight, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily accounting operations, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and General Ledger
- Manage customer invoicing, collections, and accurate application of cash receipts
- Oversee accounts payable processing, including annual 1099 preparation and reporting
- Review and approve payroll to ensure compliance and accuracy of wages, deductions, and benefits
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Prepare and post journal entries and reconcile key balance sheet accounts during month-end close
- Support annual financial audits and benefits-related reporting
- Upload and manage banking files in coordination with financial institutions
- Review corporate credit card activity and prepare related journal entries
- Administer COBRA-related events and benefits audits
- Manage office administration and purchasing activities, including raw material surcharge calculations
- Supervise payroll staff, including hiring, training, performance management, and employee development
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including payroll oversight
- Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close
- Experience with audits, bank reconciliations, and 1099 reporting
- Proficiency with accounting and payroll systems
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Preferred Experience
- Background in manufacturing, industrial, or unionized environments
- Experience with purchasing and vendor management
- Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on leadership style
