Director of Finance & Operations (Part-Time)

Z2 Capital Partners, a Stamford-based private credit and private equity firm focused on direct investments in smaller businesses, is seeking a finance and operations professional to join our team on a part-time basis. We are looking for someone who has built a career in accounting, and is now seeking a flexible, hybrid arrangement.

The Role

This is a part-time W-2 position, approximately 2 to 3 days per week with some seasonal variability. You will work directly with the partners, operate with a high degree of autonomy, and serve as the financial and operational backbone of the firm.

Responsibilities:

• Management company accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and monthly bank reconciliations
• Managing payroll processing and recordkeeping
• Vendor and service provider coordination, including HR, benefits providers, insurance carriers, outside tax accountants, and legal counsel
• Maintaining organized, audit-ready financial records that meet institutional standards
• Supporting investor financial reporting and responding to LP-related inquiries in cooperation with our fund administrators
• General office operations, including expense reimbursement and light administrative support for the partners

What We Are Looking For

• 10 or more years of accounting experience, ideally within private funds, investment management, financial services, or family offices
• Proficiency in QuickBooks
• Strong command of AP, AR, bank reconciliation, and payroll functions
• Exceptional attention to detail and the discretion required to handle confidential financial matters
• Ability to take ownership and work independently with minimal supervision
• Local to Stamford, Greenwich, or Fairfield County and available for hybrid in-office work
• Prior SBIC experience is a plus but not required
