As-Built / Redline Engineer | Oil & Gas, Renewable Energy, Chemicals

Long-term contract | Site-based

ENG Bauen is supporting a major industrial project in Germany as it transitions from construction into commissioning and system turnover. The current phase is focused on achieving verified system readiness across complex process, utility, and infrastructure packages within a high-value chemical facility.

We are seeking experienced, site-based As-Built / Redline Engineers to support the verification, correction, and completion of construction drawings and technical documentation across process units, utilities, and offsite infrastructure. This role sits directly within the construction execution environment and operates at the interface between Construction, Engineering, Completions, and QA/QC teams.

You will be responsible for reviewing issued-for-construction (IFC) drawings against installed conditions in the field, capturing deviations, producing accurate redline mark-ups, and ensuring all documentation reflects true installed status. This is a detail-critical role requiring strong construction understanding, excellent drawing literacy, and the ability to translate site conditions into controlled engineering records used for final handover and certification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed field verification of installed systems against IFC drawings and design documentation.
  • Produce accurate redline mark-ups reflecting as-built conditions across mechanical, piping, E&I, and structural scopes.
  • Support completion of as-built documentation packs for system handover and certification.
  • Liaise with Construction, QA/QC, and Completions teams to resolve discrepancies between design and installation.
  • Ensure all redlines are accurately recorded, controlled, and updated within project document management systems.
  • Support walkdowns, verification surveys, and punch list validation activities.
  • Maintain traceability between site conditions, engineering records, and final handover documentation.
  • Assist in ensuring documentation completeness ahead of system turnover and commissioning readiness.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Engineering or construction background (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, or Civil preferred).
  • 5+ years’ experience in construction environments on large industrial, petrochemical, or energy projects.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and construction documentation.
  • Proven experience producing redlines and as-built documentation in live site environments.
  • Familiarity with EPC / EPCm project delivery and completions workflows.
  • Strong attention to detail and understanding of field installation practices.
  • English required; German advantageous.

If you are an experienced construction or field engineering professional with strong drawing interpretation skills and a background in as-built verification, or would like to learn more, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
