Apollo is seeking an accomplished professional to join the Investment Operations team as Director, Counterparty Relationship Management & Onboarding. This role will serve as a central point of contact for external counterparties and internal stakeholders, overseeing counterparty relationships, trading line management, and account onboarding across Apollo’s complex private market and fund structures. The position is critical to enabling efficient transaction execution, supporting product launches, and strengthening Apollo’s institutional operating platform.
Primary Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary Investment Operations liaison to external counterparties, including custodians, prime brokers, clearing merchants, administrators, law firms, and agents.
- Establish and manage strategic counterparty relationships, ensuring seamless coordination, issue resolution, and timely escalation of operational matters.
- Oversee account onboarding and maintenance across Apollo funds, separately managed accounts (SMAs), collateralized loan obligations (CLOs), special purpose vehicles (SPVs), and affiliated entities.
- Lead the development and maintenance of institutional onboarding documentation and due diligence materials required to establish and maintain trading relationships.
- Manage trading line infrastructure, including coordination with Legal on trading agreements (e.g., ISDA, credit support annexes), and oversee communication of trading line availability and capacity.
- Partner with Front Office, Legal, Risk, Compliance, and Enterprise Solutions teams to support new product launches, privately originated transactions, and complex deal execution.
- Monitor counterparty exposure, track trading line utilization, and collaborate with Risk and Investment teams to support diversification and risk mitigation strategies.
- Drive strategic initiatives, including the creation and enhancement of centralized account and counterparty data repositories and onboarding workflows.
- Lead and mentor a globally distributed team, fostering operational excellence, strong governance, and continuous process improvement.
- 8–12 years of experience within a complex financial services organization, at a global alternatives asset manager, hedge fund, or institutional investment firm.
- Demonstrated expertise in counterparty relationship management, institutional onboarding, and trading line administration within a buy-side environment.
- Experience negotiating and managing trading agreements, including International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) documentation and related credit arrangements.
- Strong knowledge of fund structures, including private funds, SMAs, CLOs, SPVs, and affiliated platforms.
- Familiarity with institutional KYC, due diligence, and regulatory documentation, including anti-money laundering (AML) and ownership structure requirements.
- Proven leadership and project management capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and present information with clarity and precision.
- Proven track record of delivering strategic programs designed to automate onboarding-related workflows, both in the form of formal technology-budgeted projects, and self-sufficiently via AI
- Experience collaborating with Front Office, Legal, Risk, and Compliance teams in support of privately originated transactions and product launches.
- Proficiency with industry onboarding and counterparty management platforms, such as S&P Counterparty Manager (Onboarding Accelerator) or similar tools.
- Demonstrated experience building or enhancing centralized data repositories, workflow solutions, or operational infrastructure.
- Prior experience managing and developing teams across multiple time zones within a global organization.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or relevant professional certification preferred, or equivalent experience.

The base salary range for this position is listed above. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on personal, team, and Firm performance. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, level, and geographic location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed here.
