What This Role Is About
As Warehouse Team Lead – Nights, you serve as the operational liaison during overnight hours—supporting transfer activities, coordinating workflows, and ensuring the warehouse is organized, productive, and ready for the next shift.
You’ll work alongside the night crew while providing direction, answering questions, and escalating issues appropriately.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership
- Lead by example with professionalism, respect, and integrity
- Maintain confidentiality and enforce company policies and procedures
- Provide clear communication to internal teams and external partners
- Deliver strong internal customer service
- Notify the Regional Operations Manager of policy violations or performance concerns
- Direct day-to-day night warehouse activities and priorities
- Monitor workloads and adjust assignments as needed
- Serve as liaison between transfer drivers, night crew, and early-arrival drivers
- Assist transfer drivers and tag damaged equipment for follow-up repair
- Review reports to prioritize putaway and receiving
- Monitor docks for priority inbound freight
- Ensure work areas are clean, organized, and ready for day shift
- Complete required paperwork accurately and on time
- Monitor and respond to emails professionally
- Answer operational questions from warehouse employees
- Complete required computer-based tasks
- Learn and support processes across all warehouse areas
- Conduct inventory counts using RF scanners and approved procedures
- Follow receiving, labeling, staging, and stocking processes
- Ensure all workflows meet service expectations and KPIs
- Train new hires on warehouse operations
- Operate powered industrial trucks
- Train and certify employees on industrial truck equipment
- Safely operate warehouse equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, scanners, conveyors, and dock equipment
- Enforce all safety protocols and address safety concerns immediately
- Notify the Regional Operations Manager of safety matters
- Identify and submit process improvement recommendations
- Ensure team tasks are completed within required timeframes
- Resolve minor issues independently; escalate larger issues appropriately
- Assist with reports and special projects
- Travel occasionally for training, meetings, or special assignments
- Other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3–4 years of warehouse experience, including RF scanner use
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong multitasking and prioritization skills
- Clear verbal and written communication
- Proven problem-solving ability
- Prior lead or supervisory experience
- Ability to develop action plans with minimal guidance
- Working knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods
- Frequent use of hands and fingers
- Reaching above shoulder height
- Using handheld and desktop computer devices
- Occasional bending, twisting, kneeling, climbing stairs or ladders
- Regularly lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs
- Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus
