We are searching for an Interconnection Manager on behalf of our client. This is a 1-year contract assignment.(W-2) You will actively participate in the Mid-Continent Independent System Operator (MISO) and Southwest Power Pool (SPP) generator interconnection processes, overseeing the full life cycle of development and construction of projects. This role is essential for the successful execution of new generating asset growth within the MISO and SPP regions. As an experienced technical team member, this position is responsible for collaborating with internal project developers/originators and external entities including the ISO and Transmission Owners (TO).
Key responsibilities include managing generator interconnections, which encompasses, but not limited to, interconnection application filing, queue management, system impact study review, decision-making, and generator interconnection agreement negotiation/amendments. Acting as an interconnection subject matter expert, the Senior Manager will also provide essential support for the company’s growth initiatives, including diligence for Merger & Acquisition and greenfield projects.

Key Skills and Experience:
• Strong power systems background with a thorough understanding of
transmission planning and NERC reliability standards
• Experience with steady-state thermal/voltage, short-circuit, transient
stability using industry analytical tools such as PSS/E, PSLF, PowerGEM TARA,
TSAT, and ASPEN
• Strong understanding of the planning processes within RTOs/ISOs and
Transmission Providers, especially relating to baseline reliability planning
and generator interconnection studies
• Ability to coordinate with multiple internal and external SMEs to complete
comprehensive
• Understanding of transmission policy and regulatory issues related to
generator interconnection
• Ability to communicate complex technical information succinctly to
external stakeholders and all levels of management
• Provide solutions for technical transmission issues for development
projects and current assets
• Manage generator interconnection application process, ensuring
compliance with regulatory requirements and timelines.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including ISO/RTOs,
developers, and utility companies, to facilitate seamless interconnections.
• Develop and implement strategies to optimize the generator
interconnection process
• Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological
advancements to inform strategic planning and decision-making.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
• Demonstrated experience and working relationship with ISOs (preferred MISO and/or SPP) or local utilities in a role related to generator or load interconnection agreements, utility and ISO interconnection study methodology, criteria, business practices, and transmission planning with focus in grid reliability.
We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $40.00/hr. to $45.00/hr.
