About The Role
We are looking for an experienced and forward-thinking leader to join us as our Head of Strategic Transport & Delivery, helping to shape how people move across Kirklees and connect to the wider region.
This is a key leadership role where you will ensure transport and connectivity help drive economic growth, regeneration, housing delivery and our climate ambitions. You’ll play a central role in influencing investment and delivering major projects that make a real difference to our communities.
You Will
What you’ll be doing
- Set the direction for transport across Kirklees, ensuring it supports regeneration, inclusion, health and net zero goals
- Lead the development and delivery of a strong pipeline of transport projects and investments
- Work closely with partners such as West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA) to influence regional priorities and secure funding
- Oversee major programmes including bus network improvements, rail developments and future mass transit
- Ensure projects are delivered effectively, with clear governance, strong financial management and real measurable outcomes
- Build strong partnerships internally and externally to support integrated, place-based delivery

You Will Bring
- A relevant professional qualification
- Significant senior leadership experience within the transport sector
- Strong experience in strategy, policy, business cases and transport programme delivery
- Excellent stakeholder and partnership working skills, including working with senior leaders and political stakeholders
- A strong understanding of local government and the wider policy landscape
- Financial and commercial awareness, with experience managing budgets and securing funding
- Strategic thinking and the ability to turn vision into delivery
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to develop high-performing teams
- A commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and delivering the best outcomes for residents
- A flexible, innovative and solutions-focused approach
- Lead high-impact work that shapes the future of transport across the region
- Work on major regional programmes including rail, mass transit and bus reform
- Influence investment decisions that support economic growth and sustainability
- Be part of a collaborative and forward-thinking leadership team
