About The Role

What if your deep C++ expertise could directly shape the infrastructure powering the next generation of AI? We're looking for a Senior C++ Full-Stack Engineer to design, build, and optimize the systems that leading AI labs depend on — from high-performance data pipelines to annotation tooling and evaluation infrastructure.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role for an experienced systems engineer who thrives on hard problems, cares deeply about performance and reliability, and wants their work to matter at scale.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 20–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Design, build, and optimize high-performance C++ systems supporting large-scale AI data pipelines and evaluation workflows
  • Develop full-stack tooling and backend services for data annotation, validation, and quality control
  • Improve reliability, safety, and performance across existing C++ codebases
  • Identify bottlenecks and edge cases in system and data behavior — then implement scalable, production-grade fixes
  • Collaborate closely with data, research, and engineering teams to support model training and evaluation workflows
  • Participate in synchronous design reviews to iterate on architecture and implementation decisions

Who You Are

  • Native or fluent English speaker with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Full-stack developer with a deep systems programming background
  • 3–5+ years of professional experience writing production C++, with a strong command of modern standards (C++17 or C++20)
  • Proven expertise in performance optimization, concurrency (threading, atomics), and memory safety (RAII, smart pointers, sanitizers)
  • Self-directed and reliable — able to commit 20–40 hours per week and deliver consistently in a remote environment

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience with data annotation pipelines, data quality systems, or evaluation infrastructure
  • Familiarity with AI/ML workflows, model training, or benchmarking pipelines
  • Experience with distributed systems or developer tooling

Why Join Us

  • Work directly with leading AI labs on real production systems — not toy projects
  • Fully remote and flexible — work when and where it suits you
  • Freelance autonomy with the structure and focus of high-impact technical work
  • Contribute to infrastructure that shapes how next-generation AI models are built and evaluated
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
