Controller

StevenDouglas has partnered with a privately held single-family office that is seeking a Controller to oversee all accounting and financial operations within a collaborative, team-oriented environment. The portfolio includes East Texas ranch operations, real estate holdings, family limited partnerships, direct investments, and an aviation company.

This position combines financial oversight with day-to-day accounting responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing month-end close, preparing financial statements, handling transactional accounting, and supporting cash management across multiple entities. The position oversees one bookkeeper and works closely with ranch staff, external advisors, and ownership.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across multiple entities
• Preparing financial statements, reconciliations, journal entries, and intercompany transactions
• Overseeing day-to-day accounting activities including AP, AR, payroll, and bank reconciliations
• Supporting accounting for real estate, investment activity, and aviation operations
• Coordinating with external CPA firms, tax advisors, and legal counsel
• Maintaining organized financial records and strengthening internal controls
• Supervising and mentoring one bookkeeper

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting experience
• Experience within tax accounting
