Flight Sciences Engineer

At DroneLFT, we're building what doesn't exist yet — a 5,000 lb capable heavy-lift drone platform designed to redefine logistics, defense, and emergency and humanitarian operations.

We're looking for a Flight Sciences Engineer with 10+ years of industry experience who wants to help build something real — a system that bridges the gap between ground transport and air mobility.

This isn't about joining a company. It's about helping create one.

The Role

You'll work directly with the founders and DroneLFT team to shape the aerodynamic performance, flight mechanics, and stability and control architecture of DroneLFT's heavy-lift UAS platform. You'll define the flight envelope, develop performance models, and support flight test planning as we move from concept to prototype and beyond.

Your experience will directly influence how this platform flies, how it performs, and how safely and efficiently it operates at scale.

This is a full-time role, on imminent endowment of seed funding.

We're assembling a small, highly capable team built on ownership, trust, and real innovation.

What We're Looking For

  • 10+ years of experience in flight sciences, aerodynamics, or flight mechanics
  • Background in aerospace, UAS, or defense aviation programs
  • Experience with stability and control analysis, performance modeling, or flight envelope development
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with one or more analytical and simulation tools, including RCAS, StarCCM+, CHARM, Fun3D, OpenVSP, MATLAB, Simulink, or equivalent
  • Familiarity with trajectory modeling and simulation environments
  • Strong systems-level thinking with hands-on engineering capability
  • Entrepreneurial and innovative mindset — comfortable building from the ground up and solving problems without a defined playbook
  • Startup mindset: self-driven, adaptable, and comfortable operating in early-stage environments
  • Someone ready to help define how this platform flies, not just analyze an existing one

Why DroneLFT

DroneLFT is a veteran-founded aerospace startup with a clear mission:

To unlock land potential through scalable, sustainable aerial access — without reliance on traditional infrastructure.

We're early. We're ambitious. And we're building something designed to change the current landscape of aerial logistics.

If you've spent your career building within existing systems and are ready to help create something from the ground up, we should talk.
