Position Title: Visual Merchandiser – Head Office
Employment Type: Full-time | Location: Head Office, Kuwait
Work Location: Head Office based, with regular visits to operational stores across other countries
Reports to: Head of Business Units
Role Purpose
To lead the planning and execution of day-to-day visual merchandising changes across ABYAT’s operational furniture stores, including new upcoming ranges, replacements of discontinued items, and out-of-stock product updates.
The role is responsible for ensuring that visual merchandising plans, layouts, and store-specific guidelines are executed on time and in line with ABYAT’s commercial strategies and brand standards. This position requires strong space management, project coordination, follow-up, and hands-on execution skills, as well as proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp to support store layouts, product displays, and visual mock-ups.
Responsibilities:
Visual Merchandising Planning and Execution
- Plan and coordinate all visual merchandising updates across multiple stores, including out-of-stock replacements, new range launches, discontinued range changes, seasonal refreshes, product launches, and layout changes.
- Adapt and maintain visual action plans, timelines, and calendars to ensure timely execution across all assigned stores.
- Translate head office visual concepts and commercial direction into clear, store-specific guidelines, layouts, and execution plans.
- Ensure visual consistency and adherence to brand standards across all operational stores.
- Support day-to-day visual changes and ensure that store environments reflect current business priorities and commercial strategies.
Multi-Store Coordination and Follow-Up
- Work closely with Business Unit teams and the Layout Execution team to ensure on-time setup and implementation of visual merchandising plans.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Category, Layout Execution, Store Operations, and other relevant departments to align visual merchandising activities.
- Follow up closely on assigned tasks, timelines, and deadlines, escalating issues where needed to ensure smooth execution.
- Manage multiple fast-paced projects and store updates while maintaining accuracy, quality, and consistency.
Store Audits and Standards
- Conduct regular store visits, meetings, and audits to ensure visual merchandising standards are met.
- Review store execution against approved layouts, guidelines, and brand standards.
- Identify gaps in execution, product placement, layout implementation, and visual presentation.
- Provide recommendations and follow-up actions to improve store presentation and execution quality.
Technical Design and Space Management
- Utilize AutoCAD and SketchUp to support floor planning, compact space management, layout changes, product displays, and visual mock-ups.
- Prepare and adapt store-specific layouts and visual guidelines based on head office concepts and business needs.
- Ensure product placement and layout updates are practical, commercially aligned, and suitable for each store environment.
Training and Team Support
- Assist in training and mentoring in-store visual teams on visual merchandising standards, guidelines, and best practices.
- Provide clear direction and support to store teams to ensure consistent execution across locations.
- Maintain strong communication with store teams to ensure visual updates are understood and implemented correctly.
Qualifications/Requirements
Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in visual merchandising within the furniture or home retail industry.
- Experience supporting execution and availability across bath, sanitaryware, bathroom furniture, fixtures, fittings, and related showroom displays.
- Preferred background: bath, sanitaryware, tiles, vanities, mixers, showers, fixtures, fittings, plumbing, or home improvement retail.
- Experience handling multi-store operations or multiple projects is required.
- Strong understanding of visual merchandising execution, store layouts, product displays, space management, and brand standards.
- Proficiency in floor planning software, especially AutoCAD, is required.
- Proficiency in visual mock-up tools, especially SketchUp, is required.
- Familiarity with Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, including calendar and task management.
- Strong project coordination, planning, organization, and follow-up skills.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple fast-paced projects and deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail with a passion for aesthetics, commercial presentation, and brand identity.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Collaborative, proactive, and solutions-driven, with the ability to work independently when needed.
- Fluent in English; Arabic is a plus.
- Willingness to travel frequently to stores.
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Visual Merchandising, Interior Design, Architecture, Retail Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
