Position: Dynamic Components / Engine Build-Up Trainee
Reports To: Director of Operations
Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Shift: 1st Shift: Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Pay Range: $20.50 - $35.00 / Hour
BASIC WORKER FUNCTION:
Builds and repairs complex helicopter and engine parts while learning advanced assembly skills. Works on items like rotor hubs, shafts, gearboxes, dampers, and engine assemblies. Checks and adjusts parts to make sure they meet exact size and quality rules.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF TASKS:
- Choose the correct parts and measure them with precision tools.
- Smooth and fit parts so they match the right size.
- Drill and shape holes using shop machines and hand drills.
- Line up parts using jigs and fixtures.
- Assemble parts with bolts, hardware, and safety wire when needed.
- Build rotor spindles, hubs, and swashplate assemblies.
- Assemble and test dampers and write down test results.
- Build main rotor shafts, transmissions, and related parts.
- Assemble tail rotor gearboxes and housings.
- Install control rods and moving parts.
- Help build piston and turbine engines to specifications.
- Inspect and test work to make sure it meets standards.
- Adjust and repair used precision parts.
- Keep tools and equipment clean and follow safety rules.
- Experience working on helicopter and engine parts.
- Basic understanding of mechanical and hydraulic systems.
- FAR 65.103 repairman certificate or A&P license required.
- Able to build and repair detailed transmission and rotor parts.
- Skilled with hand tools, power tools, and shop machines.
- Able to use precision measuring tools like micrometers and calipers.
- Good hands-on skills for careful, exact work.
- Able to read blueprints and written instructions.
- Good at finding and fixing problems and keeping clear records.
- Able to work alone and as part of a team using basic shop math.
- High school diploma or GED.
- FAR 65.103 repairman certificate or A&P license required.
- Experience with helicopter or engine assembly is helpful.
- Ability to build, test, and repair precise mechanical parts.
- Stand for long periods of time.
- Lift up to 50 pounds.
- Use hands often for detailed, repeated tasks.
- Bend, reach, and work in tight spaces when needed.
- Wear required safety gear.
