Key Responsibilities
- Vision System Programming and Configuration
- Develop, configure, and optimize automated machine vision inspection routines using native software tools (e.g., Cognex VisionPro/Designer, Keyence CV Series, Sick Inspector, Datalogic IMPACT, etc.).
- Set up inspection tasks such as pattern recognition, defect detection, barcode/QR reading, presence/absence checks, and gauging/measuring.
- System Integration and Commissioning
- Integrate vision systems into production lines (including camera, lighting, lens selection, and triggering).
- Connect vision systems to PLCs, robots, HMIs, and manufacturing execution systems (MES) using industrial protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, etc.).
- Commission, test, and validate vision systems on site.
- Troubleshooting and Optimization
- Diagnose and resolve vision system issues (from hardware installation to software logic or image quality).
- Analyze inspection performance and optimize parameters for maximum accuracy and repeatability.
- Support and Maintenance
- Provide technical support for vision system end users, production teams, and technicians.
- Perform regular system calibrations and updates.
- Documentation and Standards
- Create and maintain detailed documentation including programs, setup parameters, camera configurations, and validation results.
- Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and user guides for vision systems.
- Project Collaboration
- Work with engineering, automation, IT, and production teams to define vision inspection requirements.
- Support project planning (timelines, resource needs) for vision-related components of automation projects.
- Continuous Learning & Cross-Platform Mastery
- Stay abreast of new developments in machine vision technology and tools.
- Demonstrate ability and willingness to learn, master, and cross-train on new vision system platforms as required.
- Data Analysis and Reporting
- Analyze inspection results and trends; provide feedback for process improvement.
- Develop routines for result data logging, traceability, and report generation.
- Safety and Compliance
- Ensure all installed vision systems comply with relevant safety and quality standards.
- Training
- Train plant staff and operators on basic system use, diagnostics, and minor adjustments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of experience with developing Vision Systems
- Good customer service skills.
- Technical document creation experience
- Experience performing user acceptance testing and working with end-users to validate data
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Highly coachable and trustworthy
- An ambitious and persuasive achiever with a casual and direct communication style
- Experience in training
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel objects, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, talk and hear.
