Data Analyst

You’ll be proactive and work effectively in a multidisciplinary agile team to help ensure data is accurate and significant, and then provide analysis and actionable insight through effective storytelling and data visualisation. You’ll help deliver analysis and reporting that is automated, reliable and secure and will be able to recommend ways to improve data efficiency and reliability.
As a Data Analyst, You’ll
- build and maintain effective working relationships with business management/operations teams across delivery teams
- analyse both strategic and operational data to produce visualisations and insights about the performance and impact of activity
- oversee operational data captured by the Systems and Data Team’s in-house business management tool
- be an advocate for developing analysis across the organisation and actively participate in a performance and data analysis community of practice
We’re Interested In People Who
- have proven ability and/or experience in conducting data analysis in an analyst role
- have experience of providing and sharing analytical insight in a clear and concise manner to help stakeholders make informed, evidence-based decisions
- have strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets
- have experience with data modelling or automation of reporting processes and visualisation, using tools such as PowerBI or similar
- have excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills - able to work effectively across teams and functions
- are comfortable working both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

Office attendance
The Department operates a discretionary hybrid working policy, which provides for a combination of working hours from your place of work and from your home in the UK. The current expectation for staff is to attend the office or non-home based location for 40-60% of the time over the accounting period.
DSIT does not normally offer full home working (i.e. working at home); but we do offer a variety of flexible working options (including occasionally working from home).

Selection process details
The standard selection process for roles at GDS consists of:
- a simple application screening process - We only ask for a CV and cover letter of up to 500 words. Important tip - please ensure that your cover letter includes how you meet the skills and experience listed in the “person specification” section above
- a 60 minute video interview

Candidates that do not pass the interview but have demonstrated an acceptable standard may be considered for similar roles at a lower grade.
A reserve list will be held for a period of 12 months, from which further appointments can be made.
