Vice President / VP - Albany, NY

A well-established multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy is hiring a Vice President to lead municipal project delivery and client relationships out of its Albany office. This is a senior, client-facing role with significant scope to shape the growth of a well-resourced municipal discipline group (~100 people nationally).

About the role

The Albany office has a strong project pipeline and an established regional presence, and is now investing in senior municipal leadership to support its next phase of growth. You'll take ownership of municipal engineering projects across the Capital Region, guiding them through town approval processes, managing public construction contracts, and acting as the senior point of contact for municipal clients. You'll also play a key role in mentoring and developing junior staff.

What you'll be doing

• Leading municipal engineering projects through town approval processes
• Managing public construction contracts and New York State procurement methods
• Developing and maintaining long-term relationships with municipal clients
• Handling bid reviews, construction proposals, and contractor award guidance
• Providing quality assurance reviews on technical work (circa 20% billable target)
• Mentoring and growing junior and mid-level staff
• Supporting business development across the Capital Region

What you'll need

• Professional Engineer (PE) licence (essential)
• 15+ years' experience in municipal engineering (exceptional candidates with 11+ years will be considered)
• Strong background in public contracts and public construction contracts
• Demonstrable experience with water and wastewater infrastructure projects
• Working knowledge of New York State procurement methods
• Proven track record managing municipal client relationships
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D; WaterCAD familiarity and hydraulic modelling experience preferred
• Confident, presentable, and comfortable leading client meetings

Location & working pattern

Based out of the Albany, NY office. Hybrid working supported, with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office to support mentoring, collaboration, and in-person client meetings across the Capital Region.

Package

• $130,000–$200,000 base, depending on level and experience
