Position Summary:
The Business Development Manager (BDM) will serve as a high-impact “hunter” focused on aggressively identifying and capturing new business opportunities across brokerage, trucking, warehousing, and transportation solutions. This role is designed for a self-starter who thrives on prospecting, opening new doors, winning deals, and building a strong portfolio of loyal customers. Success will be measured by the ability to drive revenue growth, penetrate target markets, and establish long-term, profitable relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
• Proactively identify, engage, and secure new customers through cold calling, networking, social selling, and in-person meetings.
• Develop tailored transportation and logistics solutions to solve customer pain points.
• Build and manage a robust sales funnel through relentless prospecting and follow-up.
• Own the full sales cycle — from initial outreach and needs analysis through proposal development, negotiation, and deal closure.
• Collaborate closely with operations, brokerage peers, and leadership teams to deliver on customer commitments and match-up prospective opportunities the Western brokerage and asset network.
• Track, measure, and report on all sales activities using CRM tools, ensuring strong pipeline visibility and accurate forecasting.
• Stay on top of industry trends, competitive intelligence, and market conditions to adjust strategies and maximize results.
• Represent the company professionally at trade shows, networking events, and customer meetings
Qualifications:
• Demonstrated experience in sales development, customer engagement and growth in logistics, trucking or transportation solutions • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong research abilities to identify prospects and personalize outreach • Demonstrated drive to deliver, persistence and resilience in a goal-oriented environment
• Passion for understanding customer needs and building relationships
• Technical aptitude and ability to discuss complex solutions with confidence • Experience with or understanding of the transportation/logistics industry is a plus
• Proficiency with CRM platforms and sales engagement tools
