Position

Acis is one of Australia’s leading providers of business and investment structures, supporting accounting, legal, SMSF administration and wealth advisory firms through a proprietary technology platform combined with expert legal oversight.

The platform enables the creation and management of companies, trusts, and SMSFs, integrating with third-party systems and streamlining processes.

The CTO is responsible for developing and executing the end-to-end technology strategy for Acis, ensuring the platform and systems are secure, scalable, reliable, and innovative.

This role leads:

  • Business-as-usual (BAU) technology operations & support;
  • Software development & product delivery;
  • Cybersecurity & risk management; and
  • AI and automation.

The CTO partners closely with the CEO, executive and cross functional team leads to translate business strategy into technology outcomes that drive client value, operational efficiency, a sustainable business model and revenue growth.

Responsibilities

Technology Leadership & Strategy

  • Review, refine and execute a 3 - 5 year technology roadmap aligned to business strategy and growth.
  • Support commercial outcomes including revenue growth, client retention and new product innovation.
  • Advise the executive team on technology trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Build a high-performance IT organisation, fostering cross functional collaboration and an integrated IT/business culture to align technology with stakeholder needs.
  • Drive high performance engineering excellence, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Manage and oversee IT costs and vendor relationships.
  • Partner with the business to align technology with client needs.

BAU IT Operations & Tech Support

  • Ensure high availability, reliability and performance of the Acis platform for employees, partners and clients.
  • Oversee tech support function, incident management and related SLA performance.
  • Optimise cloud infrastructure.
  • Maintain robust business continuity and disaster recovery capabilities.

Software Development

  • Lead end-to-end software development lifecycle across products and platform.
  • Drive modern engineering practices across Agile / DevOps / CI-CD and test automation & quality engineering
  • Ensure platform scalability to support growth in users, transactions, and integrations.
  • Collaborate with product, customer and executive teams to prioritise high-impact features.

Cybersecurity & Risk Management

  • Own business-wide information security strategy and governance.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g. ISO 27001).
  • Protect sensitive client, legal, and financial data through identity & access management, data protection & encryption and security monitoring & incident response.
  • Ensure regular risk assessments, audits, and penetration testing are undertaken and issues remediated on a risk/exposure basis.

AI & Automation

  • Define and deliver an AI and automation roadmap to enhance operational efficiencies, document generation and review workflows;
  • Client onboarding and processing;
  • Internal productivity and support operations. Leverage data to enable analytics, insights, and decision-making.
  • Evaluate and deploy emerging technologies (e.g. GenAI, workflow automation, RPA)
  • Ensure responsible AI usage, governance, and risk controls.

Experience & Skills

  • Proven CTO / Head of Engineering / Technology leadership experience.
  • Experience in SaaS or platform-based businesses.
  • Strong background in software engineering leadership, cloud-native architectures (AWS/Azure/GCP) and cybersecurity frameworks and governance.
  • Experience managing both BAU operations and product engineering teams.
  • Track record of delivering scalable, high-availability systems.
  • Strategic thinker with strong execution capability.
  • Commercially minded with a focus on business outcomes.
  • Pragmatic and delivery-focused (balances innovation with stability).
  • Strong communicator across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Builds empowered, accountable teams.
