Controller

We are a multifamily real estate investment and management firm seeking a controller to join our team. The Controller will oversee all accounting and financial reporting functions for the firm

and its real estate portfolio. This role will be responsible for managing internal accounting

processes, supervising accounting staff, ensuring compliance with GAAP, and producing

accurate and timely financial reporting for management, investors, and lenders.

The ideal candidate has strong real estate accounting experience, including partnership

structures, property-level accounting, and investor reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable,

accounts receivable, and financial reporting

• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes

• Prepare and review property-level and consolidated financial statements

• Maintain and oversee real estate partnership and investment entity accounting

• Coordinate and manage annual audits and tax preparation with external CPA firms

• Prepare and review investor reporting and capital account statements

• Oversee cash management, budgeting, and forecasting

• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal financial controls

• Manage debt reporting and lender compliance

• Implement and improve accounting systems and internal processes

• Work closely with acquisitions, asset management, and executive leadership teams

• Supervise and mentor accounting staff

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred)

• 7–12+ years of accounting experience, with significant experience in real estate

• Prior experience in a real estate investment firm, real estate management, developer, and/or private equity real estate platform

• Strong knowledge of:

o Real estate partnership accounting

o Property accounting

o GAAP financial reporting

• Experience with real estate accounting software- Resman and Quickbooks

• Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills

• Ability to manage multiple entities and complex ownership structures
