Purpose or role of the position within the organization (Basic Function and Scope of Responsibilities):The Student Assistant is responsible for helping with everyday Dean's Office operations.

Duties and Principal Responsibilities: Answers phone calls. Responds to basic requests. Routes calls as necessary. Helps in preparing PowerPoint presentations, Excel worksheets, and miscellaneous reports as directed. Performs internet searches and helps with research, as needed. Conducts surveys, as needed. Prepares reports, as requested. May be responsible for performing routine office duties and running errands, as needed. Responsible for keeping Dean’s Office work area tidy and up to date. Performs other duties as required.

Education Requirements: LIU student enrolled in an active degree program

Training, Skills, Knowledge, Experience: Working knowledge of Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint a must. Ability to spell correctly or check spelling for correct usage, as needed. Maintains confidentiality. Good keyboard skills required.

Rate of Pay: minimum hourly rate

Period of employment: Begin Date: 3/6/26 End Date: 6/30/26

Evaluation procedures and schedules: schedules are created on a weekly basis around the students class schedule. evaluations are made at the end of each semester.
