What To Expect
Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Sr. Equipment Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams responsible for designing and producing exciting new technologies. The Sr. Equipment Engineer will be responsible for sustaining, improving, designing, and/or sourcing tooling and equipment. This role requires hands-on involvement on the manufacturing line and emphasizes analytical abilities, organization skills, and attention to detail.
What You'll Do
Develop expertise in manufacturing processes, analyze critical data, and understand equipment capabilities. Modify line layouts using Lean Manufacturing best practices to optimize material flow, waste reduction, and ergonomics. Participate in the transition of products from concept to mass manufacturing. Optimize production equipment to maximize safety and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), driving world-class quality levels. Lead continuous improvement projects to increase yield, capacity, and capabilityDesign new tooling, fixtures, assembly aids, and equipment to enhance processes and yield. Conceptualize high-volume production equipment, prioritizing safety, cost, capacity, volumetric efficiency, and delivery timeDiagnose and resolve issues in the part manufacturing process, utilizing structured problem-solving techniquesCreate documentation such as BOMs, schematics, maintenance guides, and operator manualsIdentify automation opportunities and collaborate with Automation/Control Engineers for design and implementationProvide DFM (design for manufacturability) input to design team for process and yield improvementsSupport 24/7 production operations as neededWhat You'll BringDegree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Robotics engineering, or equivalent relevant experience Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, including exposure to safety best practicesExperience with Robot program troubleshooting. Working experience with data visualization tools such as SQL and PythonUnderstanding of automation control systems PLC/HMI/SCADA (preferably Siemens with TIA portal and Ignition) and interfaces with software and factory databasesStrong mechanical design and analysis skills, including pneumatics, sensors, motors, pumps, and actuatorsBenefits
