Interim Controller

A great UHY client is seeking an Interim Controller to support accounting and financial operations during a transitional period as the organization prepares for a potential sale. This role will focus on overseeing month-end close activities, maintaining accurate accounting operations, and partnering closely with executive leadership on reporting and operational support initiatives.

The Interim Controller role is a fully remote contract opportunity expected to last approximately 2–3 months, with potential for extension or permanent consideration. The first month is expected to require full-time hours, with reduced hours possible following the initial ramp-up period.

Interim Controller Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage month-end close activities
• Ensure accounts payable and accounts receivable processes remain current and accurate
• Partner with the CEO on ad hoc financial reporting and analysis
• Support financial statement preparation and accounting operations
• Coordinate with external auditors and accounting partners
• Assist with maintaining accounting processes during company transition activities
• Support inventory and operational accounting oversight
• Utilize QuickBooks and related systems to support accounting functions
• Assist with special projects and executive requests as needed

Interim Controller Requirements

• Prior Controller or senior-level accounting leadership experience required
• Strong experience overseeing month-end close and financial operations
• Experience managing AP/AR and general accounting processes
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment
• QuickBooks experience preferred
• Experience working with auditors and external partners
• Retail or consumer products experience is a plus
• Strong communication skills and ability to operate calmly within fast-paced environments
