Head of Software Development (m/f/d) 🚀

We are looking for a Head of Software Development to take full ownership of the software development lifecycle, technical architecture, and team performance for an enterprise‑grade SaMD (Software as a Medical Device) platform.

This is a mission‑critical, hands‑on leadership role for a true builder who leads by example. You will translate business and C‑level vision into scalable, secure, and fully compliant cloud‑native solutions while remaining technically involved to unblock challenges and mentor the team.

Your Responsibilities 🏗️

Strategic Leadership

• Define and execute the product and technology roadmap in close collaboration with leadership and product teams
• Drive expansion of the enterprise product portfolio and overall departmental growth
• Act as the bridge between C‑level stakeholders and engineering, ensuring alignment, transparency, and predictable delivery
• Communicate progress, risks, and key technical decisions clearly at executive level
• Coordinate across AI research, clinical, and regulatory teams to align priorities and timelines

Product & Engineering Execution

• Lead product‑aligned engineering across backend, frontend, cloud, and AI/ML
• Own the system architecture for AI‑driven, cloud‑based SaMD products, including DevOps and MLOps integration
• Ensure scalability, security, reliability, and performance of the SaaS platform
• Apply domain expertise in medical imaging / radiology / image processing to enhance product capabilities
• Build, lead, and scale high‑performing engineering teams, fostering technical excellence and quality standards
• Actively mentor team members and stay hands‑on to resolve critical technical blockers

Governance & Quality Assurance

• Ensure strict adherence to regulatory and quality standards (MDR, ISO 13485, IEC 62304, ISO 14971, ISO 27001, FDA)
• Maintain robust security and data protection frameworks for sensitive medical data
• Balance innovation speed with safety, quality, and traceability requirements

Your Profile ✅

Experience & Leadership

• Background in software engineering, computer science, or similar
• 12+ years of software engineering experience, including 8+ years in senior technical leadership roles
• Proven track record delivering complex, production‑grade software in fast‑paced environments
• Strong ability to translate strategy into execution while remaining technically hands‑on

Technical Expertise

• Deep hands‑on experience with Python‑based production systems
• Strong background in cloud‑native SaaS architectures (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including multi‑tenant systems
• Advanced experience integrating AI/ML models into production (inference pipelines, MLOps)
• Solid DevOps expertise: CI/CD, IaC, observability, incident response

Regulatory & Domain Knowledge

• Significant experience in SaMD development environments
• Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and ability to translate them into practical engineering processes
• Highly desirable: experience with medical imaging, radiology software, or DICOM workflows
