Market Risk Analyst – Natural Gas & Power
Location: Houston, TX or Stamford, CT
Six One Commodities (61C) is a fast‑growing energy trading company with physical and financial exposure across natural gas, LNG, and power markets. We are looking for a Market Risk Analyst to play a central role in daily risk measurement, exposure monitoring, and valuation across our trading portfolios.
This is a high‑visibility role sitting at the intersection of trading, risk, and operations, with regular exposure to senior leadership and strong growth potential as the business scales.
What you will do
- Identify and analyze portfolio value and risk drivers
- Produce and enhance daily risk reports for traders and senior management
- Support Value‑at‑Risk (VaR) calculations and stress testing
- Contribute to the development of risk analytics, scenario analysis, and portfolio modeling tools
- Assist with model validation and quantitative analysis, including Monte Carlo‑based approaches
- Support risk controls, valuation policies, and governance processes
- Work closely with trading, scheduling, accounting, and other internal teams to improve transparency and processes
What we are looking for
- Experience in Market Risk or Middle Office within energy commodities, ideally natural gas or power
- Direct exposure to physical and/or financial energy products
- Strong understanding of mark‑to‑market valuation, exposure measurement, and VaR concepts
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with Python, SQL, C# or Tableau is a plus
- Familiarity with ETRM systems, market data, or risk reporting tools
- Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and comfort working in a fast‑paced trading environment
- Clear communicator who can work effectively with both technical and commercial stakeholders
