Role Summary
Farm Girl is seeking its first dedicated Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable Clerk to support day-to-day transactional accounting operations during a key stage of company growth.
Reporting to the Controller and working closely with the VP of Finance, this role will play an important part in maintaining accurate financial operations, supporting cash flow management, and ensuring accounting processes remain organized and scalable across both Canadian and US operations.
This is a hands-on role best suited for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with high transaction volume.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable
- Process vendor invoices and code transactions to the general ledger
- Prepare and manage weekly payment runs including EFT, wire, and cheque payments
- Maintain vendor records and respond to vendor inquiries
- Ensure accounts payable records remain accurate and audit-ready
- Generate customer invoices and apply incoming cash receipts
- Reconcile retailer remittances and support deduction management, including:
- Chargebacks
- MCB deductions
- Shortages
- Freight claims
- Promotional clawbacks
- Support clean and timely collections processes
- Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements monthly
- Process employee expense reports
- Support month-end close activities alongside the Senior Accountant
- Maintain organized accounting documentation and supporting records
- 2+ years of experience in AP/AR, bookkeeping, or accounting support roles
- Experience working within Xero or a comparable cloud-based accounting platform
- Strong Excel and spreadsheet skills
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage high transaction volume accurately
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Experience within CPG, food and beverage, wholesale, or retail environments
- Familiarity with retailer deduction processes involving:
- Loblaw
- Sobeys
- Metro
- Costco
- Walmart
- Whole Foods
- Experience supporting multi-currency accounting (USD/CAD)
- Accounting diploma or progress toward CPA designation
- Accurate and timely AP/AR processing
- Well-maintained accounting records and reconciliations
- Strong vendor and retailer communication
- Clean month-end support and organized documentation
- Smooth day-to-day accounting operations that support company growth
