Indexed description
The Opportunity
As a Senior Product Manager for Smart Home Hardware, you will lead the development and iteration of Wyze’s next generation of smart home devices, including sensors, lighting and power products, and lifestyle hardware. You will own the end-to-end product lifecycle - from customer insight and concept validation through market research, design, development, launch, and continuous improvement - for a portfolio that sits at the heart of the Wyze ecosystem. The role exists to turn customer and business needs into affordable, reliable smart home hardware that strengthens the Wyze ecosystem and ships successfully at scale.
What You’ll Do
- Own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for a portfolio of smart home hardware products such as sensors, lighting and power products, and lifestyle devices.
- Translate business goals and customer insights into clear product requirements, PRDs, and user stories, with well-structured prioritization and trade-offs.
- Lead cross-functional development across hardware, firmware, software, industrial design, engineering, finance, marketing, QA, operations, and ODM partners from concept through mass production.
- Work closely with hardware and ODM teams to define specifications, review design proposals, assess feasibility, manage cost and BOM, and ensure products meet quality, reliability, and regulatory standards.
- Partner with design and UX to define end-to-end product and setup experiences that integrate seamlessly with the Wyze App and broader ecosystem.
- Collaborate with marketing, channel, and finance partners on pricing, positioning, launch plans, and forecasting to ensure successful go-to-market execution.
- Define and track product success metrics (adoption, engagement, quality, margin, returns, etc.) and use data to drive iteration and continuous improvement.
- Conduct customer and market research, including interviews, surveys, competitive analysis, and reviews data, to deeply understand user needs and identify new product opportunities.
- Drive cross-team decision-making, clearly communicate status and risks, and keep stakeholders aligned on scope, schedule, and priorities.
- Champion the “voice of the customer” throughout the development process, ensuring that usability, reliability, and value are at the core of every product decision.
- BA/BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related technical or quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of product management experience in consumer hardware, IoT, or smart home products.
- Strong product sense and customer empathy, with a track record of translating customer problems into successful products or features.
- Experience working with cross-functional hardware programs, including engineering, design, operations, marketing, and QA, from concept to launch.
- Demonstrated ability to work with external manufacturing or ODM partners to deliver quality products on time and on budget.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills; able to align diverse stakeholders and drive clarity in ambiguous situations.
- Strong analytical skills; comfortable using data and experimentation to inform decisions and measure outcomes.
- Deep curiosity for and experience using AI tools and workflows to accelerate product research, requirement development, cross-functional execution, and overall product innovation.
- Ability to prioritize and make sound trade-offs under pressure while managing multiple projects in parallel.
- Proficiency in Mandarin to communicate effectively with partners and ODM teams in China.
- “0-to-1” delivery experience for consumer hardware products (not just prototypes)
- Previous experience with smart home or IoT devices such as smart sensors, lighting, plugs, or lifestyle devices.
- Experience working with overseas ODMs and supplies, including travel and onsite validation
- Familiarity with app–device ecosystems and how hardware, firmware, and app UX come together to create a seamless user experience.
- Former leadership or project owner experience in cross-functional teams, even without direct reports.
More About Us
Over the years, Wyze earned a reputation for disrupting entrenched categories and delivering products that feel almost too good to be true. That early impact brought industry recognition from Forbes, TIME, Fast Company, PCMag, and others… all signals of momentum that helped establish Wyze as a breakout brand.
Today, Wyze is focused on its next stage of company building. We’re scaling our platform, strengthening our operating rigor, and investing for long-term growth, while staying true to the belief that everyday people deserve access to great technology. This is a phase defined less by headlines and more by execution, craft, and durable impact.
Our people are central to that work. Wyze has been recognized as a Best Place to Work by Built in Seattle and Seattle Business Magazine, but what matters most is the environment we’re building now: one where smart, pragmatic builders take ownership, move fast, and shape what comes next.
