Senior Account Manager

About The Role
This is a pivotal individual-contributor role reporting directly to the Director of International Sales. You will be the primary commercial owner of a portfolio of prestige retail accounts — from sell-in through to sell-out — and will work cross-functionally with marketing, operations/planning and finance to ensure Allies of Skin punches above its weight at shelf and online.
You are not a coordinator. You are a senior commercial operator who comes to the table with proposals already formed, decisions thought through, and a clear path forward. You live in the data, know how to read a P&L, and have built enough pattern recognition across your career to know what good looks like — and to spot early when something is drifting off track.
You bring solutions, not problems. When the conversation gets difficult — with a buyer, a partner, or internally — you lean in, not away. You know how to make a compelling case, hold your ground with evidence, and get to a productive outcome without burning a relationship. You thrive in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment where no two days look the same and everyone is on the same team and accountable to each other.
What You'll Do
Account Ownership & Commercial Growth
- Own and manage a portfolio of priority prestige retail accounts across North America and/or global markets
- Lead all aspects of the commercial relationship: assortment selection, seasonal planning, promotional calendars, forecasting, and order management.
- Drive sell-in and sell-out performance, proactively identifying risks and opportunities and acting decisively on both.
- Negotiate terms, promotional support, and placement with buyers, ensuring agreements are commercially sound and brand-appropriate.
- Consider long-term P&L drivers and drainers, including standard wholesale liabilities such RTV, DIF, markdown funding and subsidies.
- Own full account-level P&L, including budget creation, ongoing maintenance, and validation against actuals.
- Manage trade spend efficiently, ensuring ROI on all retailer investments, promotional activity, and GWP programmes.
- Produce accurate sell-out forecasts and work closely with the supply chain and operations teams to ensure product availability.
- Build deep, trusted relationships with buying, merchandising, digital, and education contacts at all key accounts.
- Identify and convert new distribution opportunities within existing and prospective retailer partners.
- Represent Allies of Skin at trade events, retailer summits, and brand days.
- Partner with the marketing team to align retailer activations with brand campaigns, launches, and tentpole moments, being clear to request support as needed.
- Collaborate with finance on invoicing, AP/AR assistance and deductions resolution.
- Work with the Director of International Sales to build account strategies, business reviews, and long-range plans.
- Deliver regular account performance reporting (weekly/monthly/quarterly) with clear commentary, recommended actions.
- Analyse sell-out data and account data (both formal and anecdotal) to inform ranging, replenishment, and new product priorities.
- Maintain a high standard of data hygiene across all account records and internal planning documents.
- Minimum 5 years of experience within the prestige Skincare or Cosmetics industry (Skincare highly preferred).
- At least 2 years in an Account Manager or Senior Account Manager role with direct buyer responsibility
- Proven, demonstrable experience working with major prestige beauty retailers — Sephora, Ulta, THG, Nordstrom, or comparable North American or global accounts.
- Full P&L ownership experience including budget setting, tracking, and validation.
- Strong track record of driving sell-in and sell-out results against targets.
- Fluency across Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
- Commercially sharp with exceptional analytical skills — you are as comfortable in Excel as you are in a buyer meeting.
- A natural manager in the room — you arrive with a proposal, not a question. You don't wait to be directed; you set the direction and bring others with you.
- Strong pattern recognition built from real industry experience — you connect the dots quickly, anticipate what's coming, and use what you've seen before to make better decisions faster.
- Independent and solutions-oriented: you identify problems early, develop options, and act — escalating only when you genuinely need to.
- Confident in tough conversations — with buyers, partners, and internally. You can make a compelling case, and hold your position without damaging the relationship.
- Excellent communicator and relationship builder — credible, persuasive, and professional at all levels.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities simultaneously without dropping the ball.
- Thrives in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments where processes are still being built, not just followed.
- Passion for skincare and the prestige beauty industry — you know the landscape, the players, and the trends.
- Based in the United States (Los Angeles, CA highly preferred) with the right to work without sponsorship.
- Able and willing to travel domestically and internationally as required for key account meetings, trade shows, and brand events.
- Competitive salary
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
- Flexible work environment offering hybrid options, generous paid time off, paid holidays, and a paid day off to celebrate your birthday
- 401(k) plan with company match
- Exclusive product perks for Allies employees
- A collaborative, innovative, and inclusive company culture
