The Motor City Cruise is the NBA G League affiliate of the Detroit Pistons, focused on elite player development and delivering an accessible, high-energy fan experience. The organization serves as both a development platform for business and basketball operations and a revenue-driving property, with strong emphasis on community engagement, innovation, and fan growth.

The Director of Ticket Sales is responsible for leading all ticket revenue strategies and execution for Motor City Cruise, with a primary focus on group sales, season ticket membership growth, and individual game sales performance.

Closely aligning with the President of Business Operations’ vision and expectations, this role oversees sales strategy, inventory management, and team leadership, while working cross-functionally to maximize revenue, attendance, and fan engagement.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead and execute group ticket sales strategy as a primary revenue driver, including outbound efforts, community engagement, and large-scale initiatives
  • Drive season ticket membership growth, including full oversight of acquisition and renewal campaigns, retention strategy, and member experience
  • Develop and execute individual game ticket strategies, including promotions, theme nights, and demand-driving initiatives
  • Partner with Marketing to develop and execute mini-plan packages, including product creation, pricing, and go -to-market strategy
  • Oversee ticket inventory management, including pricing strategy, holds, scaling, and yield optimization across all ticket products
  • Build and execute annual sales campaign strategies, including call campaigns, new product development, and performance benchmarks
  • Develop and integrate ticketing opportunities into corporate partnerships and key business relationships
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with Marketing, Partnerships, Game Operations, Community Relations, Analytics, and Arena Operations to align revenue-driving initiatives
  • Oversee execution of group-driven programs including school programs, fundraising, youth basketball, and community initiatives
  • Manage development of ticket sales collateral and campaigns across digital, in-arena, and outbound channels
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and develop high-performing ticket sales sales staff, including coaching, mentorship, and performance management
  • Establish and manage sales processes, pipelines, reporting, and accountability structures
  • Oversee budgeting, commission structures, and sales forecasting in partnership with senior leadership
  • Prepare and present weekly sales performance reports, and lead regular sales meetings to track progress against revenue goals
  • Meet and exceed annual ticket revenue and attendance goals
  • Other duties as assigned as per President, Business Operations expectations

Requirements

  • Proven track record of growing and retaining a season ticket member base, including leading acquisition and renewal campaigns
  • Strong experience driving group ticket sales revenue as a core business line
  • Demonstrated ability to lead individual game sales strategy, including promotions and theme night development
  • Experience developing and executing mini-plan ticket products in partnership with marketing
  • Capability to work under tight deadlines and pivot strategies as needed due to uncontrollable circumstances including but not limited to game conflicts, adverse weather conditions,
  • Expertise in ticket inventory management and revenue optimization
  • Proven ability in recruitment, supervision, and development of sales teams
  • Experience working across multiple internal verticals to drive integrated revenue outcomes
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and performance-driven mindset
  • 5+ years of ticket sales experience, with leadership experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
