About the Job

About Highline Nursery

Highline Nursery is building the nursery infrastructure for California’s leading cultivators. We provide the starting point for every dollar a cultivator generates, supplying the high-quality plants (Clones and Teens) that fuel the state's most sophisticated canopies. From our roots in Humboldt County to our expanding operations in Los Angeles, we manage the most critical stage of the cannabis supply chain.

The problems we solve are high-stakes, time-sensitive, and unforgiving. Dealing with living inventory requires precision, foresight, and a deep understanding of cultivators' needs.

We hire people with high agency and high urgency. At Highline, every Account Manager is self-motivated and proactive in driving revenue (either through outbound sales or within their own book). They own their accounts end-to-end and make consequential decisions that shape the success of our farmers’ harvests.

If you want to manage the systems that directly influence the quality of California’s cannabis market, Highline is the place to do it.

About the Role

Account Managers at Highline Nursery maintain the primary relationship with farmers, covering outbound sales to ongoing relationship management. It is a full cycle sales role, responsible for getting farmers connected with the most stable and consistently performing genetics, collecting their compliance info, establishing deliveries, and maintaining post delivery relationships. You will play a critical role in deepening customer relationships, leading strategic conversations, and identifying opportunities to expand Highline’s ability to help our farmers.

What You’ll Do

  • Account Ownership: Build and nurture strong relationships across new and existing high-value accounts, managing all updates, support tickets, and requests they have at a high degree of sales and service quality.
  • Cold Outbounding / Cold Calling: You will be consistently reaching out to farmers to discuss their experiences, needs, and goals for upcoming harvests / seasons to see how Highline Nursery can provide value.
  • Strategic Growth: Drive "canopy spend" by owning retention and expansion within existing products; specifically, articulating the ROI of Teens vs. Clones to maximize client yield and nursery margin.
  • Inventory & Pipeline Management: Use a CRM (Hubspot) and Google Sheets to manage a fast-moving, perishable inventory, ensuring zero waste through pre-sales and waitlist management.
  • Logistical Execution: Lead the coordination of delivery days in partnership with our Delivery Sheet Manager, ensuring that technical specifications and timing align perfectly with the client’s harvest cycle.
  • Team Cohesion: Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with each department to ensure their roles are not impacted by your approach.
  • Market Feedback Loop: Collaborate with our production and marketing teams to provide informed recommendations on the next generation of great genetics to ensure our R&D stays ahead of California market trends.

What You Need

  • Technical Proficiency: Intermediate to advanced experience in Excel/Google Sheets is a requirement for managing our complex inventory matrices.
  • Experience with CRMs: Experience utilizing HubSpot is a must. This role will depend on your ability to be proactive in sequencing, organization, and outreach all through our HubSpot access.
  • Sales Background: Minimum of 2 years in executing sales strategies and producing consistent quota attainment, with a preference for those who have worked in high-volume sales or business development roles.
  • Operational Discipline: Strong attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple delivery deadlines and production contingencies simultaneously.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal skills; you should be as comfortable writing sales copy as you are speaking over the phone.

Nice to Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Agriculture, or a related field.
  • Experience in "Just-in-Time" supply chain management or perishable goods.
  • Deep existing network within the Los Angeles licensed cultivation community.

Compensation & Levels

For this role, the compensation structure is a non-exempt salary position of $55,000-$60,000 plus an uncapped commission structure.

  • Target OTE (On-Target Earnings): $70,000 – $100,000 per year for a typical starting rep.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive Health, Vision, and Dental insurance
  • Paid Holidays
  • State sponsored Roth IRA
  • Cell phone reimbursement
