How will you contribute?

Joining the Audit Office means being part of a team dedicated to excellence, integrity, and making a tangible difference for the people of NSW.

We are seeking an experienced Chief Information Officer to provide strategic leadership and expert advice on information technology and cyber security to the Executive Director, Corporate, Experience and Strategy Branch, and the broader Office Executive. In this pivotal role, you will ensure IT services, products and platforms align with organisational requirements, manage cyber risk within agreed tolerances, and actively contribute as a member of the leadership team to delivering the Audit Office’s vision, mission, values and strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

Strategic:

  • Advise on information technology solutions that support delivery of our Corporate Plan.
  • Ensure the Audit Office’s information technology services, infrastructure and systems meet business needs and adhere to recordkeeping and other legislative and policy requirements.

Delivery:

  • Effectively deliver information technology projects to meet time, cost and quality requirements.
  • Support the Executive Director, Corporate, Experience and Strategy on the Audit Office’s change management strategies, particularly as they relate to information technology.
  • Information and Cyber Security:
  • Ensure the integrity of the Audit Office’s Information Security Management System and maintain the ongoing confidentiality, security and availability of both Audit Office and client data and information.
  • Ensure the Audit Office’s ISMS remains accredited as ISO27001 and that the Audit Office is compliant with the NSW Cyber Security Policy.
  • Drive the implementation work required to ensure the Audit Office meets its Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) Essential 8 targets.

Operational:

  • Actively manage and address critical events to ensure the Audit Office’s information technology systems, capabilities and services are not disrupted or compromised.
  • Effectively manage the performance of the Information Services team to achieve the Audit Office’s vision, mission, values, goals and strategies.
  • Evolve business operations with a focus on improving business productivity and championing new ways of working.
  • Ensure compliance with the Audit Office Code of Conduct and all other internal policies, business rules and procedures including records management and workplace health and safety policies.

What will you learn?

We will challenge and develop you, encourage your curiosity, open-mindedness, and courage. A bird’s eye view of the whole state government is on offer, a unique opportunity that few professionals are exposed to.

Our audits are purposeful and are determined each year to reflect the contemporary challenges that NSW faces, providing you with the opportunity to work on a variety of issues and challenges.

We value the growth and development of our people, with leaders who guide and mentor on your professional journey. With a focus on wellbeing, we support you to perform at your best and achieve meaningful outcomes in your role.

What will you need to succeed?

To succeed in this role, you will bring strategic leadership, sound judgement and the ability to translate organisational priorities into a practical, future-focused technology agenda. You will be an accomplished senior IT executive with demonstrated experience leading digital transformation, while balancing long-term strategy with reliable delivery of operational IT services and business outcomes. Success in this role will also require strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, a collaborative leadership style, and the capability to lead contemporary cyber security, resilience and cloud-enabled technology initiatives in a public sector or similarly regulated environment.

You will also need:
