- 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
- 5 years of experience with Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).
- 3 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
- 3 years of experience with reliability or quality engineering or similar.
- 3 years of experience with virtualization.
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
- 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
- Experience with Virtual Machines (VMs) or other Cloud technologies.
- Experience with system architecture.
- Expertise in virtualization technologies, and systems programming.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $174,000-$252,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Lead the introduction and delivery of new x86-based Google Compute Engine (GCE) VM families (NPIs), ensuring on-time launch and adherence to performance goals on Intel and AMD platforms.
- Analyze, debug, and optimize VM performance, minimize latency, and enhance customer workload efficiency.
- Develop and improve software components, tests, and qualification processes within the GCE node stack to increase reliability (MTBF) and performance consistency of x86 VMs.
- Provide engineering support for generally available VM families, addressing customer-reported issues, performance regressions, and production incidents.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with teams to integrate new technologies and improve the x86 host stack.
